Dumb shite your MIL or future MIL has done
Oh, shite. Where to begin? She is batshit insane.
You'll just have to wait for the book to come out.

One time she rewatched a whole LSU baseball playoff game without realizing it was a rerun.
That is classic.. And when they show reruns of a game, don't they usually say it's a rerun when they come back from a commercial? I know they do for football games.. "due to time restraint we will be moving ahead..... blah blah rerun"

The fact that you didn't get arrested for beating that woman unconscious is true sign of your character.
I was more concerned with my daughter's injury. But I did let some non-Christian words come out, walked inside and told my FIL to remove her from my property immediately.
She has extreme daddy issues + the loveless marriage - and she can't seem to understand that there are men in the world that are good, decent people. She's egalitarian to the core. Voted for Hillary because she's a woman.
She should be on medication for mental issues. Its been prescribed. She won't even fill the prescription. She has this Louisiana Pentecostal (think Jimmy Swaggart) background and she believes that nonsense, even though she hasn't been in a church other than Easter in about 10 years.

my MIL is a pretty awesome lady.
very intelligent and driven. had a very successful career and will retire very comfortably on her own. not someone i would want to make any enemy of, that's for certain.

MIL left my FIL after 25 years of marriage in 2008 when they lost 75% of their wealth. She was mad at him for not taking her advice and selling off before they hit bottom. He was hoping for a rebound.
Now, 7 years later he has rebuilt his wealth through a successful career in sales and is about to marry a woman 20+ years younger than him
Meanwhile she is batshit crazy, alone, and pennyless. She lives with a daughter because she cannot afford to live on her own.
ETA: She is also responsible for the death of one of my dogs since she failed to follow our instructions and left it out all night. It dug under the fence and got hit by a car. I didn't speak to her for months until my wife intervened.

This is actually worthy of the shunning mentioned in the Jehovah's Witness thread

I disagree. I proposed in front of both of our families on Christmas Eve. Surprised her because she thought I was at work (firefighter) and I basically had to go into hiding all day. Our parents are really close. Our dads are best friends and do just about everything together. It was pretty special to us for our families to be there. My family had been going to their family’s Christmas Eve party for years and everybody was having a predrink at my parents when I walked in and surprised her. Awesome day and one we will never forget.

Yeah she would never see the grandkids again if she did that.

Very first time I met her she came down (lived out of state) and stayed with us because her daughter and I recently moved in together and she walked in on her daughter riding me.
And??????
Did you hit submit too quickly?
Tell us the rest of the story.

I love my MIL.
She’s always buying something for the grandkids, doing something for my wife, or offering to help out.
She is old school NOLA and a great cook, very good hostess. She’s always willing to explain recipes and very supportive of the cooking my wife and I do. She also agreed to watch our first born every day while my wife and I were working and couldn’t afford daycare.
Conversely, she stays out of our business and never comes over without us inviting her.
The best thing though is how reasonable she is. Sometimes my wife will get some crazy idea in her head and my MIL will help me convince her she’s being silly. Sometimes if I want to avoid a fight about XYZ altogether (like where to go on a vacation) I go and talk to my MIL first and get her on my side, then bring it up when we’re over at her house. My wife will give in after talking to my MIL and I’ll avoid the whole argument.
I’m going to be broken up when she passes. Her health is dropping pretty quick the last year.

My MIL just texted my wife to ask her what website we use for Airbnb.
