Why would you tell the mother first? That’s weird.

Guess you didn’t read the whole thread. So she could attend the after party later that evening.

Short of murder, I can win most any bad MIL contest.

The past couple years of my 17 year marriage have been less toxic when dealing with my MIL - but she has taken her issues out with others - her neighbor and my sister in law are the current recipients of her crap.

Things you should expect: Your MIL will pull some attention seeking behavior at the wedding, like wearing white, trying to take over everything, etc.

Better yet, elope and announce your recent marriage at said party when everyone expects you to propose. That’ll teach MIL real good.

I think we could be friends!

It’s threads like these when I miss ChefLeppard

I don’t hate my future MIL, but the way she treats my SO at times has royally fricking pissed me off. My SO’s stepmother has a daughter that’s not even half the person my SO is. SO went to college, graduated in Biology with damn near impeccable grades, went to PA-School and graduated with very high grades, sweetest person I’ve ever met, volunteers at the church and in general is freaking awesome.

SO’s stepsister is a fat, lazy, spiteful, slob of a person, completely spoiled rotten.

Guess who gets treated better by the parents?

my future MIL,

you really need to rethink this, because all of that trash will be your trash for as long as you're in that family, longer if you have kids

It’s not like I hate her, and she’s not a bad person and they’re not trash, just the passive aggressive shite she says to my GF at times gets on my nerves.

And I’ll be able to say something to her about it by that time.

tread lightly my friend, best of luck

btw, another thing to consider is how this will affect your SO over time, and it will, and guess who will bear the brunt of her reaction, whatever that might be, might even turn on you, seent it before

I understand that, but it’s just something that irks me about her. Other than that, she’s fine, I just don’t like how she treats her daughter with kid gloves 100% of the time and says some passive aggressive shite to my SO. I know that she’s not my SO’s real mother, but she’s basically raised her since she was five. SO’s real mother is a piece of shite and she doesn’t know her real dad, has never met him and doesn’t even know his name.

With how she got dealt a tough hand at the outset, she has excelled in everything she’s ever done and I’m really damn protective of her because she’s not a confrontational person at all.

But thanks for the advice, it’s well taken.

That passive aggressive shite us why your SO is where she is and why the other one is where she is. She may not realize it bow but your SO used it as motivation

How did she end up in the custody of two people neither of them being her real parents? Or am I reading this wrong?

I'm sure other factors led to your wife not coming.
