Only because of the way the original thread was titled, which has since been edited. Also, b/c of the way the group (frat) will pay for this individual's actions.

just looked through my rush documents from this year and a kid by the same name, same age, and same hometown rushed this year. That has to be him, meaning that he is almost certainly a pledge.

Meh, just because he went through rush doesn't mean he pledged a specific fraternity, he could have been cut during rush and be a lurker friend of a pledge, hanging out and trying to get a bid or just hanging out in general.

However, the fact that they didn't beat the shite out of him suggests they knew him and maybe was a pledge.

They had the party, they supplied the alcohol, they created the environment, someone from KA must've invited her, they chose him as their pledge, it happened on their premises in an environment that was hostile, and they failed to supervise this plebe. Exactly why shouldn't we KA bash?

STFU with your logic and acceptance of personal responsibility.

Well I guess every time there is a fight at a bar we should condemn the establishment and also condemn the alcohol companies for creating this toxic brew that fostered this behavior.

So you have a house party at your place, you get a keg, you invite all of your friends. It's your first few weeks of college and you invite this guy you met in one of your classes who seemed like a decent guy.

He get's hammered and date rapes a girl in your apartment. She presses charges. Should you be put on trial as well?

It's just stupid how Greek organizations are held responsible in a different way. Totally not trying to take away from this being terrible and this is getting off subject. But this is getting stupid.

That makes no sense. Sure a bar is a "private establishment", but they let everyone in with an i.d. and cannot control unknown people. A kid under the influence in a private fraternity house is 100% the responsibility of the fraternity.

Even if he showed up that way, it's KA's responsibility

Should you? Probably not. Could you? It isn't unheard of.

Its the difference between a private individual throwing a private party, on the one hand, and a University-sanctioned, interstate organization hosting a semi-public (rush party, I assume) event. My guess is there are very important differences in terms of legal liability.
