Drugs vs Alcohol. Pot calling the kettle black

A guy that works at same company as I got popped on a random mouth swab for weed last week. A couple other guys I work with were mouthing off saying things like "I'm glad they are getting the sorry dope heads out of here." One of these guys has to blow in a tube to start his truck because of DWI.
To me if a person ingests a substance to alter his state of mind, be it weed, alcohol, pills, or whatever it's the same thing. The old excuse that alcohol is legal is bullshite. You are still using a substance to alter state of mind. Just because the government says its legal doesn't change anything. Thoughts?
Oh and btw, I don't smoke but have taken a few hits in the past and will have a drink socially.

Not talking about employers. Just the way most people look down on others for smoking weed but will go get shitfaced staggering drunk but that's ok cause "it's legal"

I honestly would rather deal with someone tweaking or high then someone drunk 7 days a week . I really am not a fan of alcohol. I might spend 100 on alcohol all year. Been nursing the same 750 ml bottle of gray goose since November and still have a little less than half left
