'Drug overdoses have reached epidemic proportions in North America': UN issues warning to US as it says world opioid addiction is 50 per cent higher than thought and cocaine use is at record level.

Number of people taking opioids has jumped 56 per cent in 2017 globally

US was also warned it was facing a crisis of 'epidemic proportions' with the drug

Global drug use was up 30 per cent as cocaine use hit a record high

North America remained the area with the highest concentration of opioid users globally, according to the report compiled by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, prompting the UN warning as the number of deaths from overdosing on the drugs rose 13 per cent to 47,000.

Being fat kills a lot more people every single day than this. Why is that not considered an emergency epidemic?

White people are dying bro....

in reality its because there has been a dramatic increase over the past 20 years and opiate use can easily be fatal after immediate use, which contrast to other drugs and being fat

You are extremely stressing about fat people these days. Do you suffer from bulimia?

I worked at a rehab earlier this year until they pissed me off.

But anyway, they all come in dirty for meth & heroin.

Anything else is an outlier and/or lagniappe

I know a guy who OD’d in my town yesterday. Found dead in a parking lot with two other guys in the car still running, all dead from Roxies and Fentanyl. It’s a terrifying world

Oh I completely agree, I believe the fentanyl was laced into the Roxie’s and none of them knew it. Granted, shouldn’t even be doing it in the first place. Why can’t people just stick to bud if they really have to get high that bad? Like they know the outcomes of these ridiculously hard drugs and what they do
