If by "get some errands done" you mean doing wifey in the living room then I agree with you.

Depends on the age of the child. If elementary school, most parents stay.

My kids have just reached the age where they start getting dropped off, it's pretty great.

Though I'll only do it if it's at someone's house and a bunch of kids are there. If it's out at some kid's place in public, I stick around.

My kids are 8.

If you got good kids drop em off. If you have shite stains for kids you should stick around. Unless you too are shitty then just dont come and keep your kid at home.

It's funny my wife and I just had this conversation. Basically I prefer the parents just drop off, so we don't need to have the awkward small-talk. On the otherhand we'd never drop off our own kids because I wouldn't expect someone to be responsible for them.

(our kids are elementary school)

It depends upon age and how well we know the parents.

My 11 year old we will pretty much drop off at a party.

My 8 year old, we will only drop off at a party and not stay if we know the family really well.

Plus, my kids get invited to a lot of parties "at the kid's home" than I remember. It was rare for me as a kid to go to a party at a kid's house, but now, that seems pretty normal. I guess the costs of having it somewhere have gotten too high. Plus, many places force to buy the food from them.

What do you do if you're at 35,000 feet and you have to drop a deuce? Isn't the cockpit door supposed to remain closed and locked the entire flight? Do you guys just have a five gallon bucket up there with a toilet seat screwed onto the top?

I am sure when I was too young to remember my parents went, but I can't remember a time when my parents stayed with me at a birthday party.

If I recall, my mom always knew what time to come pick me up.. My dad would always ask me and I wouldn't know so he would tell me he will be back in 2 hrs or something.

Kids today, parents give them a party and its all of the kids parents and the kid's aunts and uncles, grandparents, and they all want to give the kid attention and to some degree its selfish because they all want that kid to give them attention and then it seems like parents all try to one up each other with birthday parties..

They are kids. All they need is their friends. Maybe a bouncy house.. some water guns, tell them to stay in the backyard.. and they will be good.

Also, the amount of presents kids get these days are insane.

Even though they intentionally invited them to their own child's birthday party?

Is the party at a residence or park? Or at a giant facility like main event or urban air where constant supervision is impossible? And if so, would you be willing to drop off your 4-5 year old at one of those places on a normal day, knowing nobody will be watching him? Most parents aren't willing to do that these days. And leaving them there for a bday party is essentially the same thing. The birthday parents cant watch all of them, all the time.

Your OP mainly depends on your kid and their level of maturity/responsibility. I'd drop off my 8 year old, but probably wouldn't have when he was 6. Because he wasn't ready.

Good question.

I am on the drop them off boat if the parents don’t know each other that well or if you are not family.

Would it be too OT trashy to encourage parents on the invitation to just drop the kids off at a backyard birthday party for a 5 year old? Asking for a friend.
