Think this through.

California has rolling brown outs every year and Texas was a disaster after a winter storm
quote:Sure, if every single car magically turned into an EV overnight, you'd be correct. 100 years ago, the US didn't have the infrastructure to support gas powered vehicles, and look at us now. But again, none of that is remotely relevant to this conversation and my post.
The US doesn't have the infrastructure to support EV's

Neither are reasonable options in his scenario.

I eagerly await the options.

You just have to want it enough brah.
Les Miles & the team got a ring in 2007 for having the want.

This can turn into a good thing. The political elite will see the chance to make money as it is underserved. Hopefully we start utilizing nuclear energy instead of regulating to death the cheapest, cleanest, safest, most abundant source of energy we have available

Fly, there’s planes that go there like EVERY DAY.
They have these things called “rental cars” once you get there.
Get one.

I probably should have put the whole scenario in the op.
For those still wondering.. our kid is going to college in MA. The plan is to drive up for the original date so he has a car for the year. When looking at options for new(ish) vehicles, I started looking at EV.
Back and forth trips between Aug and next June would be flights.
Then drive home for the summer.
Then repeat for hopefully 4 years.

You can pay to have your car shipped across the country.
Economical? No. But you didn’t say it had to be a cheap option.

Is the school in Boston/Cambridge? If so, you don’t want him to have a car that first year. They can take the T, Uber, or if they really want to get out of the city there are options like Turo or Zipcar.

Lol, I love my kid but he's not Harvard or MIT material.

There are a lot of other schools in Boston.

Good choice. EV's are exempt from parking regulations in Boston; that will be a big advantage for you when you get there.

Tesla the only practical road trip EV. Due to the superchargers.

Don't do it. Instead, purchase a vehicle in MA suitable for the seasonal changes.

How many joules of energy does it take from tradional energy sources does it take to produce one joule of electric energy. Honest question.

How many extra days am I gonna have to stop and charge overnight?
Is this the right kinda trip for an electric car. I thought they were made to haul democrats to get soy lattes. Not traverse the whole country.
