Wife wants to visit her grandmother in the next few months in Las Vegas. We have a 2.5 year old and 6 month old.

The older one has flown a bunch and does just fine.

Flights are damn expensive, especially since I have to buy 3 tickets.

I know at least half the drive would be scenic, but it's about a 25 hr drive not including stops.

If you have the time, drive. You can stop and see other places. Or, just send her and baby.

Do you want 48 hours of misery or 6 hours of misery?

$900 total vs 25 hours minimum in a vehicle with a toddler and an infant? How is this even a question

Send wife and kids on plane. Tell her you have to work that day and fly out a day or two later. Fly back early. Miss flying with kids. Profit.

I've made the drive from Vegas to Slidell and vice versa a few times. The flight may be 3 hours of torture. The drive may be 2 or 3 days of torture. Driving in West Texas sucks.

It's a long flight flying over Texas and even worse driving through it.

You really have to ask?

25+ hours in a car with a toddler and an infant? Are you a masochist??

Fly.
I've driven DFW to VGS - it fricking sucks. There is absolutely nothing between the two worth seeing, except MAYBE the Big Texan Steakhouse in Amarillo.

From Louisiana? Man frick that.

Do you have the app Hooper? You can put in flights you are looking at and as the price changes it notifies you. You can get them when prices go down.. You can get a direct flight out of New Orleans for a decent price.

Alright, fly it is.

I'm willing to make the trip to see her only because she is quite wealthy and I want to stay in her good graces
