Yah def fly.
If your kid cries on the plane, at least you can move around, bounce him, feed him etc. To calm him down, and if he doesn't, at least it's over in an hour or 2.
If you drive and your kid starts wailing in the back, either you gotta stop every so often to calm him down, feed, etc. Since you really just can't take him out of the car seat while driving. You could easily double or triple your drive time.

Flying isnt that expensive as opposed to gas, food and hotel.
And not to mention just other drivers.

that stretch of I10 through Texas is just about the most boring tedious drive in America.
Try 94 west of Minneapolis-North Dakota-Montana. The ride can be decent up until Fargo (that movie was right on) but after that I'd take 10 through Texas anyday over flatass ND/MT. Like driving on a hamster wheel through the delta.
OTOH, I-70/76/78 (PA Tollway) is a long drive but beautiful in summer...the tunnels through the mountains are humbling when you thinking of all the asians who blew themselves up while blasting those holes. It's interesting when you hit NJ, when we pulled into a gas speak we were approached by the Pakistani attendant who demanded our card...it's freaking illegal to pump your own gas in that state.

Driving that far with a newborn and a toddler seems like an awful time.
