Problem here: Early in the disease path, 95%+ of the people would have recovered anyway, with or without the drug. Even if the drug did nothing, 19 out of 20 people would be around to tell the story of how it helped. When that many people would have recovered to begin with, it takes a large data set to really dig down on what the drug did or did not do.

The amount of tribalism and sheer ignorance in this thread is staggering. People rail against CNN but fail to realize they've been brainwashed by Fox. No different result but since it fits people's world view they're more than happy for the brainwashing.
If hydroxychloroquine was amazing as is being touted by Fox and other right-wing outlets then why isn't the problem solved yet? Maybe because... ITS NOT AS AMAZING AS BEING TOUTED?

Not reading 5 pages but a problem with "robust studies" are that they need time. Which you don't have in a crisis, AND you need double blind studies. Who wants to sign up for the double blind study and be in the placebo group?

It's amazing how people who I deemed intelligent can't see that they are being brainwashed. Doesn't matter if it's CNN or FOX. Both use fear as their ammo. I don't understand how people can't stand back and look at the issue from a new paradigm. If they did they would see how absurd everything is. Dr. Fauci is speaking exactly like any doctor would speak about any therapy that hasn't been thoroughly vetted through proper clincal trials and/or widespread, well-documented use.

Ironically, this administration has brought medicines quicker to people needing them faster than any other. (FDA Fast-track, etc)

Look, everyone knows Dr. Fauci is a smart man. But Doctors are trained to act on hard, fact driven studies. When he said American public need not worry, this was based on what he read as the latest and greatest info. It was wrong and so was he. We can't wait as long as he wants us to wait for his three year, peer reviewed studies.
