Along with many other members of the community, I have seen the recent photos and videos of your extravagant Christmas Party held at your corporate location in Thompson Station. I have to be honest with you, I have had some very strong feelings after hearing this news, and feel compelled to share them with you.
I am a Pulmonary and Critical Care physician at Williamson Medical Center. This morning, I looked out of my office window and gazed upon your large house and considered what the next 12 hours would look like. After a deep anxious sigh, I then turned around and headed to the ICU. At this point, I should not have to describe what is happening in a hospital that has 30% of its beds filled with COVID patients. There is death and fear and exhaustion, from patients and staff alike. And there is deep trepidation about the weeks ahead as we expect the situation to worsen further.

As I end my day, tired both mentally and physically, I have been unable to prevent my anger from growing. I have attempted to keep an even temperament through this crisis, trying to do my job every day, preventing the social and political chaos from getting to me. But this is too close to home. This feels like a direct slap to my face. Mr. Ramsey, you are a community leader that has great sway. You are a business owner that has received millions from county and city tax incentives. And through these latest selfish decisions, you have simply let your community down and endangered lives.

I will pick myself up tomorrow, take another deep anxious sigh, and head back to the ICU to continue doing my job. It is likely I will be caring for some of the attendees of your Party in the coming weeks, or those that were secondarily infected by them. I will continue to do my best for the community, with a tired but resilient heart, and I hope others will do the same.
