The way we responded to this was utterly ridiculous but you can bet your arse that Democrat governors will be scrambling to put in new restrictions as soon as possible

My guess is it's strategy for 2022 midterms.

It already kind of worked once, why not try again.

My hope is the people will start using their fricking eyeballs, and stop listening to ThE NuMBerS!!!?! What about.... ThE CASeessSSSess!!!!!

She's a liar. She's a sensationalizer. She's irresponsible.
Be more accurate.

If we had this mentality as a species during any difficult time prior to the modern era, we would be fricking extinct by now.

We've lost all perspective, as we're providing a platform to the greatest offenders of that.

This is some really dramatic shite for a virus with the mortality rate of COVID

Here's the deal. If we really do have flooded ER's and a bunch of intubated children (that are Covid and not RSV), then this should be the number one news item in our area. If Covid is starting to adversely affect a younger crowd due to the Delta variant, our local doctors better step up to the plate and get this info out.

This is what she said:

"Delta variant is coming for our children," O'Neal said. "We are seeing increased admissions, we are seeing increased office visits, we are seeing sick kids and intubated kids today in our hospital."

People are so tired of the dramatic and emotional delivery in regards to Covid. It's exhausting. Give me real, quantifiable data and let me make my own decisions.

Let me help you out a little bit b!tch.

Nothing increases death. Not war. Not disease. Not drugs.

You're gonna die whether you get that vaccine or not. Can we please lay off the hyperbole?

I've thought about this over the past week or so. Trump is out of office, so why continue with the COVID/mask narrative?

My assumption is that its so tied to the Democrat base of the party, they have to continue it for turn-out purposes. I just don't think you can capture independents/populists with this message and a self-inflicted shitty economy to boot. People are starting to get pretty angry and tired of this nonsense.

At least we know who the BR diocese consulted when they credited anonymous OLOL officials for helping craft that disastrous policy this week.

Because

quote:

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

Local politicians didn’t do it to get rid of trump. National and governors, yes, local fall into the quote above.

This is what I do know:
Covid hospitalizations are up
The ED/Inpatient #s overall are up

While it's not near March/April 2020 when it was insane, definitely something to watch

Which is why honesty is good but hyperbole is not.

State it like you did and I listen. Doom-say like this bitch and I ignore you.

Over half the population is vaccinated. Meaning over half the population will essentially not go into the hospital.

There is no way we can EVER approach where we were before. There will never be a risk to the hospitals any more. Ever.

I think there's a way to say things to people. Fear mongering isn't one of them IMHO.

That's been tried and people haven't been receptive. Time for plan B.

From this statement, all kids are going to die, since they won’t be able to get the vaccine. We are a COVID family, and we survived.
