Yes, close family friend died. Although they were 65. Not fat or a smoker, but not some marathon runner either. Went from golfing with a slight cough one day to hospital a couple days later, dead a week after that.

Cytokine storm from C19 is what his son told me the doctors said.

I am vaccinated and hope my friends and family are too, it’s a smarter decision in my mind. HOWEVER, it’s not my place to push it on anyone, their body their choice.

Life goes on and should go on interrupted regardless.


My logic:

American lab made vaccine with 24 hours of feeling crappy and very remote chance of spreading it.

Vs.

Chinese lab made virus with a week of feeling crappy and can spread it easily

Unless she's wearing a hazmat suit, double masks and is double vaxxed, then she's a super spreader.

COVID is textbook Overreaction Theory, which Thaler won a Nobel Prize in (Behavioral) Economics in the 80's IIRC. Thaler also wrote and empirically documented early in his career at Yale that people fear losing much more than they relish winning, which is the genesis of Overreaction Theory. You see this in markets/investing very consistiently.

The good thing - if there is one - is that normally Overreaction Theory happens to both the upside and the downside before normalizing. So, I would expect to see lockdown pushback this go round like is happening in the EU.
