"Doxxing" Laws?

Is it time for anti-"doxxing" laws to happen?
I was just reading a story about Deion Sanders condemning the death threats against Henry Blackburn (glad he did this), and it stated that the family had their addresses and phone numbers posted on social media accounts. Apparently, the threats started coming in before the game was even over.
This shite is becoming way too common and way too accepted.
The "public information" websites that sell people's data should also be taken off-line.
At the very least should social media outlets take steps to prevent and delete any "doxxing" activity?
Thoughts?
I'm sure there'll be plenty...

Social media makes most of their money off your data, no way they want that gravy train to dry up!

Doxxing only allowed if you voted for Trump

How do we know who/how his information was obtained?

bro...95% of doxxing is just grabbing info that people put on facebook. you act like people are hacking accounts to get this info....most are giving it away freely.

That is a good point. I don't do social media so I hadn't thought of that...
ETA:I don't do social media other than this place.

Keeping personal shite off of LinkedIn, etc would be a prudent start. Personal responsibility helps.

Every major social media company has a policy against Doxxing.
I know Twitter's algorithm works pretty well because someone posted my address and the tweet was deleted, and the account was suspended within 5 minutes of me reporting it.
Personal/public information that is online is like a video. Once it is online, it is there for good. No point in getting rid of "public information" websites like Spokeo/CheckPeople/Whitepages. Plus, those sites are legitimate businesses. People just use their products for bad things sometimes. Why should they be shut down for other people's actions? Same thing as saying Glock should be closed for Little Jo Jo using a Glock to kill his brother...

The media will always need to doxx their perceived political enemies, so it'll still happen.

How do you make posting public information online illegal?
Like, construct that law for me in a way that seems legit and legal.

Don't buy real estate, baw.
Them tax assessors put your name and address on the internets.

You think it should be illegal to post someone's publicly listed address and phone number?
While it is certainly abused, this would be a clusterfrick.
These are publicly available items.

I think companies need to come together and agree from a policy perspective to ignore these doxers.

That is why you tell a mother fricker your address and to come over. They wont. And there are doxxing laws, this little generation of interweb lives haven't paid for their transgressions the way we have or the way I am willing to enforce for getting doxx'd

Want me to tell you how I know this Colorado business is a fad? Because it if this were any other Colorado equivalent program pretty much no one would give a shite about this. One of Deion's "kids", though? Oh, buddy......look out!
