DOTD in my parish can’t do job I asked for because they have no equipment.

Is this an acceptable answer? I have a ditch that runs along a state highway that stays with water. It needs to be dug so water can pass through. A portion of my yard stays wet due them putting a culvert to deep when my driveway was poured.

well it's the government, so they can tell you whatever the frick they want and unfortunately there likely isn't much you can do about it.

It sucks, but that's how it works.

It sounds like the problem was created by your people but you want someone else to fix it.

Driveways are privately owned. They're gonna tell you to dig and re-set your own pipe

Hahaha, you must live in Pointe Coupee parish too. Same horseshite they told me, “the trackhoe and dozer are down for repairs.” I guess they sit around and drink coffee until it’s fixed while properties flood?

Negative! The DOTD put the culvert down but put it to low in the ground not allowing for the water to flow through it. The water has to jump up to get to the dirt level to flow to the other side. The ditch needs to be skimmed of the excess dirt.

One of those deals where you'll need to hound the supervisor of the dept, council members, mayor's office, etc.

Correct. They have an office in my parish but claim the mini excavator is broken and are not getting it fixed. . Say they have been trying to get a new one but don’t know when that will happen.

Do they not know that rental companies exist?

sounds like he's talking about a contractor installing a culvert in a highway ditch that is inside the DOTD right-of-way. pouring the driveway from the road to the right-of-way line is standard practice. if so, he did not install that culvert, he does not own that culvert, he did not pour his own driveway over it, and they should make it right.

Idk how it is in LA, but here we get the supervisor involved. They usually take care of it during election season.

The DOTD installed the culvert. I had to purchase the culvert but since it is a state right of way, they install it. They put the culvert to deep not allowing for water to freely run through. It’s dead water cause it has no way to go through it.

I mean, if they are indeed down for repairs, what would you have them do? Come out and dig with spoons?

If the pipe under the drive way was installed too deep, how is the ditch going to drain better if the problem is just that the culvert is too low?

That varies on a parish by parish basis.

My parish builds the driveway if you supply the culvert.
