You know. All of you who complain about people complaining about SJW products/people/ads, I get it. It’s feels kind of silly to get up in arms about some idiots on tv being idiots on tv.
But there’s a reality. There is a concerted effort by the media, education (at any level, particularly higher education), and entertainment to “tear it down”—“it” being everything that makes America and the west generally so great. Yes, family. Yes, shitting on Christianity at every opportunity but without equally criticizing other religions. Yes, shoving an agenda down our throats. Yes, telling men (but more dangerously, boys) that there is something inherently wrong with them and that their natural masculinity is nothing short of evil—as opposed to needing to simply be directed into productive energy.
Second, boycotts work. The lunch counter protests worked, and without having to involve the government. It gets people fired and products fine tailored to the customers’ wishes. The nfl took a hit and now you don’t hear about kneeling anymore.
Yes, it’s easy to get trigger happy and jump on the boycott wagon at any potential sign of snowflake-age. Yes, some things can be SJW agenda’d whike other things really aren’t.
Was Gillette’s ad part of the SJW agenda? It sure felt like it. It felt like the worst of #METOO. So when a baw says, “I’m not supporting the product or their message, and I’m going to make it known because that’s not the indoctrination my son (or daughter) needs,” remember that they’re not exactly wrong.

that commercial is dumb, but the mach 3 is the only razor I use. It works too well. They can say pretty much anything, I am still using that razor. I've tried others, doesn't work the same for me.

I agree with this, but the thing is... Is it really worth the outrage? Gillette isn't trying to change the world, they are trying to sale overpriced razors and razor blades.
Over the past several years all of these cheaper razor companies have been popping up and hurting their sales. Their stock has been dropping so they had to look for a new avenue.
Companies like Dollar Shave Club sort of take the "manly man" route and have sort of cornered that target audience. Gillette decided to target a different group.
Whoever does their marketing probably decided that a commercial like that would get more people to buy the product than people who would switch to a different company because of the commercial because the type of people it doesn't appeal to has already jumped ship and is now using one of the other razor companies that popped up over the past several years.
If I like a product, I don't give a damn what kind of commercial they have. If I don't like a product, I am not going to use it because they have a commercial I feel connects with me.

There isn't much difference between both extremes (liberals and conservatives). They have the same mindset, it's just that they don't agree on platforms.
This is why companies have started to get political in their marketing. It causes an uproar and that gets people talking about their product. Gillette has doubled the worth of advertising they received by running that stupid fricking commercial.
It worked for Nike. And the funny thing is, the people who get triggered are the ones who are giving them more publicity than anyone else.
It's funny reading "it's attacking my family values and what America is". America is capitalism and Gillette is just trying to sale razors. They are going after a different target audience since they have been getting hammered by the other razor companies that have popped up over the past 5-7 years.

Are you? Do you really think they have a priority above making sure their stock owners are happy?

Because it’s totally impossible to go after a new subset of customers without insulting your existing customers...
