But I have no idea why everyone keeps saying the media was not reporting on the flood. I saw coverage on national news every night. Even ESPN did several segments on it.
People see what they want. People from the "right" will see things that favor their candidate and people from the "left" will see things that favor their candidate.
I was always told to never discuss politics and/or religion unless it's the appropriate setting and all of these Trump threads on the OT is the perfect example why. It turns into one big shite show because people who are passionate about one side will see it as "you are either in support of us or you are against us" so you really can't have a real "educated" discussion and it will only end up pissing people off.

Barely. My company is HQ'd out of Wisconsin and I was still getting request on Tuesday/Wednesday for things. When I'd reply letting them know it would be a while because of the floods, they'd were amazed that this was going on and they had no clue about it. The national media simply was not carrying the story.

I appreciate all of the body of your post, but the idea that Trump is the only reason there is coverage is wrong. The coverage wasn't as prevalent on the CNN and Fox News channels of the world, but it was happening.
ETA: People are confusing a lack of coverage on the channel they watch for a lack of coverage on the actual news. Political talk shows don't exactly spend time on any real news, so if Trump or Hillary opened you're eyes, you're not really watching a real news program.
