IDK but the Bossier City Airline Drive location now has self checkout.

I think this is a perfectly fine solution. Many of my fellow lefties are anti-self checkout because they think we should “preserve the jobs for people”, but I think that’s nonsense. I prefer to do it myself just as I prefer to pump my own gas and push my own elevator buttons.

Had a similar problem in the 1980s. We occasionally needed temps in our Lafayette law office. A couple of times the temps' boyfriend showed up with her and said he was going to wait for her in the waiting room. We showed both the door.

So for shits and giggles, I called one of the Dollar Trees in town just to see if they'd tell me what starting pay and job expectations would be for a cashier.

$10 an hour, expected to work weekends. Must be 16 years of age or older.

Nobody over the age of 18 that isn't desperate for the job is going to work for that.

Good way to get an EEOC action.

Only possible defense is that Gen Z applicants can just go to the Dollar General one block away.

I find Gen Z employees are fine workers if you measure performance by productivity and not time spent on task.

They do value time off and work/life balance, and to tell you the truth when I almost died in my early 30's from organ failure I was all on the work train and thought it was crazy people expected things like weekends off.

Now a boomer will show up for 40,50,60 hours and can milk a clock like no other, but that doesn't mean they work harder or better than Gen Z.

We really should just get rid of cashiers at this point, the technology is there to eliminate the position, I don't care who you are, being a cashier SUCKS.

I mean the man exposed a billion dollar company to an age discrimination/EEOC suit. What did he think was going to happen?

I'm shocked how many all taking Rambling Nonsense's hook.
He's not very subtle, yet still crushing fools in this thread.
Kudos to him, I guess.

Unless he / she is the owner, he /she is an EMPLOYEE also, whose job is to do what DOLLAR TREE says to do, and how they say to do it.
