quote:That's a bit heavy handed, but yea, I agree.
If I had a choice between throwing my dog of 10 years into a wood chipper or watching someone I've never met get beaten with a baseball bat... It's bye bye Sarge every time. I love my dog but I never, not once, put him above human life.
And most people who say the opposite, I'm fairly certain if they were in your hypothetical for some very strange reason, they'd save the human as well. They say they wouldn't but I don't see that happening if it played out.
And for the record, I have 2 dogs, so I'm a dog guy. I'd save the human every time, unless it's obviously some super scummy human.
All that said, the OP did say "like/care about" so yea, I don't know a number, but I do like my dogs more than just about every human save for a few.

One of my dogs comes up to my bed as soon as my alarm goes off. she knows im going to snooze it for 30 minutes, and wants to curl up next to me between my arm and my body for those 30 minutes. Shes smaller so i have to pick her up and she immediately rolls over on her back and lays her head on my shoulder.
Every damn day.

Excluding relatives. One or two people maybe. I hear about people giving away their dog because they are moving, and that just pisses me off. I moved to a place where my dog is illegal in most areas, and almost impossible to find someone willing to rent to me, and that thought never crossed my mind. People would ask me what I was going to do with her when moving, and I was shocked they thought I would give it away.
A great dog is worth the inconvenience.

How do you sustain your pitbull's constant thirst for child flesh?
I kid, I kid. Old roommate had a pitbull and it was the best dog ever.

My kids and my wife, other than that almost none, if a car was burning with the driver and a dog trapped inside, the dog will get saved first unless getting the driver out of the car first will make it faster to save the dog.

Oh, she craves flesh alright. She'll kiss every inch of exposed skin if given the chance. But if the biggest problem with your dog is she is obsessed with kisses, that's a damn good problem.
Pits I've been around are either absurdly sweet or Kudjo reincarnated.

You are a better person than me, it depends but some people I would let get savagly beaten down before I'd throw my dogs into a wood chipper.

Exactly. My Brittany is the most loyal friend a guy could ask for. And he has seen me piss drunk plenty of times.
