Can you move it around, or does it seem attached to something? Get your dog to the vet immediately. I lost a black lab to cancer a few years ago.

) What you do with your dog is your business but please do not promote this sort of irresponsible behavior. I've lost count of how many guys show up in the middle of the night crying their eyes out b/c they've botched some home remedy job.
OP - you're on the right track. Get that appointment and find out what's going on with your dog. Based on picture alone that's pretty difficult to say what it could be.

That was cotton balls they gave to me to soak it up. It was a pinkish white. Vet poked it with a needle and it literally was squirting everywhere. I probably went through about 10 sets of cotton balls like that completely soaked through with ooze. Her "lump" was roughly the size of the one in the picture. Happened overnight just like the OP's dog. She was lethargic and running fever though (although we didn't know about the fever until the vet visit). They took her in the back, sliced it open and let it drain for a few hours. I picked her up and they just left the cut open like in the picture. It drained for a day or two and healed up on it's own.
I of course wouldn't do it myself not knowing what the deal was, but in reality, it is very simple what they do. It's like popping a big zit. Was definitely disgusting for few days.

Glad your dog is OK.
My dog has a lump on the back right leg... but it is hard, and there is a lot of muscle loss around it.
Unfortunately, it is cancer in the spine and there is nothing we can do about it. We've got him on pain killers to ease the burden, until sometime next week or so when we put him down.
Really sucks. It is my 12 year old pug that has been everywhere with me. Definitely our "first child".

Sorry about you Pug. We have three, 11, 10 and 7. I dread the day that will come when we have to make that decision. Spoil him like crazy these last few days.

I've had a dog that had detached bone cancer. Those things are hard as rocks, and while they grow quickly, it's not something that grows huge over night. Poor girl had one taken out that was literally the size of a football (the vet tried other methods first), and after the grueling surgery they spotted it growing back at an even faster rate. Love the golden retrievers, but they are heart breakers.

Exactly. It's horrible advice. As I said I can't even recall how many "redneck solution" disasters I've had to fix. It's always the same story and same "good Ole boy" crying his eyes out bc he realized he made a huge mistake

Thanks! We are focusing on quality of life for the next week or so. Trying to figure out how to break it to the kids (they are 5 & 6). I've been sleeping on the couch with him every night just to have more quality time.
The decision isn't that hard. I am not going to keep the little guy in pain for my selfish reasons. When it is time, it is best to do things quickly. Dogs don't have a good sense of past/future, so if they are in pain it is terrible (nothing to look forward to, no real memories to brighten them up). Doesn't make it less painful for me though.

Oh man, my heart hurts for you tonight. I know that you know you're doing the right thing, but I also know that doesn't make it any easier. Being there with him and getting the extra time in is exactly what you should be doing. All my best to you while you go through this.
