Then you would be fired if you take/fail-refuse a test. Stupid thread/OP is dumb

Law.
We don't drug test. Hell half the firm would pop hot.

What I do in my free time is my business.
As long as I’m 100% sober while I’m at work my time is my time.

Which industry do you work for and have you had any experiences with drug tests at your workplace?
Oilfield and we get tested on the regular.

Can’t believe we are almost in the 2020s and some of the workplaces out there still do hair/urine tests for even drugs that are legalized in many states.
DOT has always tested for alcohol, which is legal in all states. We all know the only other drug that is now legal in some states is Marijuana, just say that, and that is also required on a DOT panel, talk to Uncle sam if you want something different.

Sorry you lost your job, do better next time. We all have to make adult choices in this world.

Commercial maritime, depending on the job, is probably DOT required. Definitely for anyone actually driving or piloting a boat, Possibly anyone working on controls as well. Anything comercial that falls under DOT will almost certainly require DOT panel drug tests.

They can set whatever expectation they want. Thats very different than making it a reality or being successful.

Wife was a teacher in New Orleans for 5 years. Worked in the East and at a good private school uptown. Was drug tested zero times. Just a heads up, a lot of your kid's teachers do drugs
ETA: I work in CA, we still drug test our field guys, and they can get fired for testing positive for THC. They work on fuel systems and the liability isn't worth it.

defense/manufacturing at the site I work at, but I am IT nerd.
-new hires
-accidents
-being fricked up at work
Those 3 items are all people are tested for now, used to be a % of work force. Reality of the situation is today, you're going to lose out on a lot of talent at that rate of cutting ppl for the herbs.
I consume THC quite a bit, would simply find another job if something happened here.

Don’t be a dick and you won’t have to worry about it.

Any company with zero tolerance can pop you anytime for any legal drug, including alcohol.

Healthcare/technology consulting, we don't test.

I truly think a lot of people, especially in the south, would be shocked at how many people across many industries smoke pot. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, CPA's, executives, nurses, etc. A lot of them aren't regular, every day users, but they don't run away from it when it's around. The ones in the south also know how to keep it on the downlow because they understand the social ramifications if their neighbors knew.
Posted on 8/14/19 at 3:15 pm to Gray12
It's completely foolish to test for pot. By now there should be a test for active THC. Once you go past 4-5 hours you have metabolized it and are no longer high. All that's left are metabolites THAT DO NOT GET YOU HIGH. To bad so many companies and individuals choose to be willfully ignorant about this.
Posted on 8/14/19 at 3:19 pm to moneyg
When I still had my company I always told an employee about any test a client required. I had at least half of my personal all over the country use pot. I never had any problems with their work or work ethics.
