My wife didn't know about the drones until I mentioned in passing. She didn't even know about the Biden vote dump at 3:00am in 2020 until I told her about it in the run up to this previous election.

She can tell you exactly where every member of the British Royal family was this weekend and who is dating who in Hollywood, though.

Mine could care less about celebrities which is awesome.

Mine is very kind so she never says anything about another person, but I know from her reaction to events that she is appalled by how certain women act and present themselves these days.

She has a decent grasp of important historical events like, but she's not going to break down Napoleons retreat from Moscow in 1812 or anything.
Tell her to read War and Peace. She can learn about the retreat AND read a love story.

ETA or she could watch the War & Peace movie featuring Audrey Hepburn if she’s more into movies

My wife thought Helen Keller was one of Charles Manson's followers. All I could do was laugh

Wow- amazing life story. First she hid from the nazi's, overcame disabilities to write a diary about her experience during the war. Then somehow escaped the holocaust, made it to America, all just to become Manson follower.

Mine is whip smart about things she's interested in. She has two undergrad degrees and a masters as a PA. She is a certified nutritionist and yoga instructor.

But current events, the news, hollywood, and history just don't interest her so she knows almost nothing. I actually can't understand how she can go through her week and NOT get exposed to at least some current events.

She will come to me every now and then and ask "so what's the deal with X?". This week it was the drones she wanted to know about. Last week it was what was P Diddy being accused of. During the election cycle it's about the candidates.

I think she's happy not to know about the mundane and the tragic, instead focusing on herself and her small world.

One of the funniest internet trends of the last year or so, IMO, was this debate over whether women have hobbies. This happened shortly after the Roman Empire thing came up, and started when some YouTube red pill-type person posited that women do not, in fact, have hobbies.

Integral to that discussion was the question of what constitutes a hobby. A lot of the women protesting this "no hobbies" assertion claimed to have hobbies, but they were things like "travelling" or "trying different foods." Meanwhile guys are restoring old cars and building short wave radios out toilet paper rolls and shite.

Anyway, I was mostly on board with the "no hobbies" thing, but I've definitely known women who like to sew their own Mardi Gras costumes, and I would count that as a hobby.

Mine doesn’t and I’m good with that.
Once a week or so she ask me about certain headlines and such, and I give her a summary.

I'm so glad my 89 year old mother doesn't watch any news, especially FNC, or as I call it the "scaring old white people channel." I'm sure the other news networks all have the same mission.

Is this the joke, or are you confusing Hellen Keller with Anne Frank?

Mine watches too much Fox News. I have to tell her to turn it off and take a break when she starts getting pissed off.

She’s interested in what happens in our home and our town. That’s the extent of it. As for current events and history, it’s very rare she’s interested in either. Usually if she does bring anything up its during election time and it is to ask me who we’re voting for.

Yay for you I guess

Never really liked history while in high school.

I get all my current events from this site. If it doesn’t get posted here (which rarely ever happens) then I won’t know about it.

My wife does not care about current events or is aware of the news or the latest on celebrities. She barely posts on social media, never used TikTok, doesn’t need validation from others.

She’s got a couple of degrees, does well in her career and knows my favorite Helen Keller joke.

I’m a lucky dog.

My wife just repeats the cliche lines that you know she heard at work. If you ask her to tell you more, she's clueless. Her interest lies in what the dog was doing while we were out.
