Yes in Decatur, IL based on my business trips there and eating breakfast early at the diner downtown.
I have also see some old man gatherings at the CC's on Jefferson by Bocage.

The same group of old farts are always at the gas station drinking coffee every single morning when we roll out to go fishing on Toledo Bend

I live in N.O. and before Katrina there was a coffee shop on Canal Blvd. by that dip in the road with the RR tracks overhead called Plantation Coffee House.
Every day the same group of older gents would assemble there and hold court for a couple hours at a time. I'd head over there a couple times a month and see the same group and got to know a few of them. Since then, I know for a fact at least 4 of the 6 are now dead.

Good breakfast too.
I used to go with my grandfather and sit in front of the seed store, drink coffee and talk about the weather and farm prices. Daily. Wish I could still do that.

Every single city had this at McDonald’s before COVID… wonder how they’re doing

The towns close to where my parents live used to but they have all died and the ones in their 80’s or 70’s now usually go to someone’s house and shoot the shite about hunting or gardening. Sometimes at night to play cards and watch METV

Yep, Donna's by the airport. I love listening to them.

A McDonalds in Monroe has a group of both younger and older gentlemen who went damn near every day before covid shut the inside down. One of them owns an Italian restaurant, which surprised me he'd go to McDonalds of all places, but it seems to attract a variety of business men who congregate in the open area with couches and circle of chairs where they bullshite before they go about their day.

The cc’s coffee on Coursey in BR has a group - I’m not sure if they’re there everyday - but it’s pretty often

Sure do. Every freaking day.

Real missed opportunity. Dead Pokers Society is way better.

Bogalusa has one group at the Donut Shop and one group at the Mexican place that makes breakfast. It's really just two separate echo chambers about shite that I don't want to talk about.

They met at McDonalds in Minden, because my Dad would join them. "I don't know why he wants to get up at the crack of dawn every morning and drink coffee with all those old cronies", my mom would say.

Yep. Father-in-law went to ours every morning. The 6 same men. All of them got Covid and 4 died around the same time. FIL was one of them. But they have some damn good breakfast.

The most classic” old men “ place I frequented when I was young was the Chal-La-Lal in Golden Meadow.
They had an oak tree in front right beside La-1.
The old men would gather to drink coffee with their choice of whiskey before daylight. About 4:00 or so.
We would stop. And drink with them on the way to Grand Isle to fish.
We would hit the Safari and the HubbaHubba, the home of Emmanuel Toups The Laughing Cajun of Bayou Lafourche.

Not just small towns. I know of a couple spots in suburban Detroit and inner city Chicago where this happened as well. Also quite a few country clubs, gun clubs, etc... will see such activity daily or weekly.

My grandpa did this for 30 years, lived on rural farmland but would drive every morning to the nearest town to have coffee with his baws.
