you are measuring the irregular movements of an object in space. This is not time. Time can feel fast or slow and is different for each person. We witness time as a series of hetetogemeous and contiguous memories, but is this is how we know there is time? What you are calling time is just a device for attempting to synchronize events. It has nothing to do with life as we are experiencing it.

ohh nice a fricking gif to express your feelings, what you a 14 yr old girl?

lets try this...

If I have a clock in empty space at position "X,Y,Z,T = 1" and another clock in empty space at position "X, Y, Z, T = 2", which is a different coordinate, the clocks will read the same.

However, if you put Planet Earth in position 1, and empty space at coordinate 2, things change. The mass in position 1 creates a curvature in spacetime that causes the 1st clock to read different than the clock at coordinate 2.

In coordinate 1, there is more gravity, because space is curved. The gravity doesn't make the clock speed up or slow down, the curved space does.

Mass warps spacetime. Gravity isn't how we perceive spacetime, it's a measurable effect, which, a measurable effect is more than just a perception of course.

Time is just how we perceive it, which is amazing. Certain substances can slow down time making things more enjoyable

Yeah, great. A distortion of space necessarily creates a distortion of time. That's why we now refer to it as spacetime.

well I'm glad i finally got your attention

my questions are related to the problems of using mechanical devices to measure and synchronized spacial displacement. These problems emanate from the practical issues relating to the type and positioning of the devices as well as the limitations of human perception, I.e. reliance on light. This is a mechanical/science issue and has nothing to do with time (duration) which is intrinsically embedded into life (existence). The two problems and subjects being discussed are entirely different.

we are discussing time as it relates to human existence not the problems that science has with clocks and other measuring devices. Einstein's formulas merely provide a way of translating from one frame of reference to another.
It has nothing to say about existing and experiencing time, this is the discussion

Let's test this.

Show up whenever the hell you want at work for a week, with the response being "no such thing as past or present, I'm here now" and see how long it takes for you to get fired.

Why the frick are people trying to be so fricking "philsophical" lately? First there's the idiot babbling about past lives or some shite like that, now this?

Well, if you don't want to discuss the problems that science has with clocks and measuring devices, then you should probably stop talking about clocks and measuring devices.

So, are you trying to ask whether time is only a construct of the mind, or what? I'm sorry to ask for clarification again, but IMO time is no different than anything else we perceive in that it is impossible to know whether anything is real.

thanks for the conversion, this was all i wanted
in a philosophical discussions sometime it just muddies things up. for me clocks just measure spatial movement and science tries to synchronize the measurements as best they can and used Lorentz transformations to help things out a bit. Scientists are infatuated with measurement. Call it an addiction of you wish. Unfortunately, most things about life cannot be measured but this but doesn't stop the scientist in us stop trying. Ask them how long time was when I was sleeping as I was experiencing it

I wonder how much of a pop culture presence Einstein would be if he were alive.
