I give gifts to kids, and only my kids or grandkids. No adults, no cousins.
The adult nonsense has started to slow down in my family between all the cousins, so that's been good. And fortunately, I only have one sibling. I can only imagine what the nephew/niece price tag starts to look like in bigger families.

I used to be firmly in the Christmas camp, but as an adult Thanksgiving is growing on me. It's basically Christmas (food and family) with none of the bullshite gift-giving stress.
fricking this. All day. This is my take as well. I absolutely loathe the expectations of giving gifts or receiving gifts as an adult.

Now that I understand how the survey works, it makes more sense
But less than 1/4 of ballots having Halloween in top is surprising
Probably heavily skewed by age. Respondents under the age of 30 probably listed it almost to a person while those above 60 likely didn't. But because of the respondent bias in survey sampling, older individuals were likely over-weighted.

This shows that Americans put God then Family then Country as the three most important things in an American’s life so yeah of course the Maos on Twitter hate it.

There’s your problem. Believing people on Twitter are the pulse of society.

Nah, people on Twitter are idiots, so they read this thinking it says that 74% of people like Thanksgiving more than Christmas.

MLK Day at 4%?
96% of America is racist!

Halloween is 2 or 3 behind Christmas and maybe Thanksgiving.

Yep. Wife and I don't even exchange gifts. I'll surprise her with something at another time when it's not expected.
Christmas is awesome when you get away from the overly commercialized aspect of having to buy stuff or receive stuff.

Young people are thinking about this on the celebration side of things and have no reason why we have the holidays in the first place. Corporate America has made them all about the dollar. Except for Veteran’s Day, which is good.

The food at thanksgiving brings it up that high. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday
That and most people have a 4 day weekend and if you like football that's a plus also

Only reason I noticed this is because it is getting ratio’d to hell on twitter. Everyone in agreement saying it doesn’t seem accurate
You mean most twitter morons don't understand how to interpret data? Color me shocked.

Halloween is basically irrelevant unless you're a little kid or a single twentysomething.

Scruffy likes Thanksgiving more than Christmas.
It is all the enjoyment of seeing family and eating good food without the annoyance and hassle of having to buy presents for people.
What isn’t to love?

There is nothing shocking about this list. The top 5 all have broad appeal across all demographics. Everything else is more narrow.
When I was 23, Halloween may have been close to the top, but it’s not now.
Men hate Valentine’s Day.
A lot of private sector works don’t even get Labor Day off.

Because Twitter is a cosmopolitan bubble.
This. It amazes me how many think Twitter somehow represents the thinking of the average American.

I'd say that the majority probably do unless it's some sort of retail or hospitality job

Thanksgiving is GOAT. Halloween blows once you are out of college and not partying but before you have kids to take trick or treating.

what kind of idiot would find those rankings the least bit unexpected?

MLK Day ahead of Christmas Eve?
Toss it out.
Toss it out.
