Sleep is an evolutionary thing. Humans didn't always need it

Therefore, who can say for certain that we are in fact alive right now. What if I'm actually dead, I'm dreaming, and this dream is my reality? What if my blessed life, wife, children, Tigerdroppings, and this discussion is just a figment of my dying imagination?

Honestly, there's truly no way to know if this moment is real or imagined, and there's no way to prove that's you are alive versus dead.

I know I'm awake because even in my nightmares I could never envision a poster as shitty as you.

The weird thing about it is, you have to pretend to sleep, to go to sleep. Pretty meta

Listening to this week's Freakonomics podcast?

I average 6 a night (10:30 - 4:30). I have bad sleep habits (screen time, alcohol, etc) and I wish I slept more. But I've been doing this for almost 20 years now.

Yeah its kinda dumb, I dream a lot so it's exciting to go to sleep. My dreams are far more exciting than my real life!

Other things I find dumb,
That there's a sky, we live on a floating ball, water, organs/heart/eye balls/sexual organs, learning, air, memories, etc

A little less than a third of your life is spent sleeping. Think of all the other things you could be doing with that time.

Used to hate sleeping, felt like I was wasting time. Still not fond of it, but I appreciate it more than I used to.

I have (and still) thought about this... Very interesting. It's like trying to remember the point of falling asleep. I never can, but it feels so good when you wake up after a good night's sleep.

Yeah, but by the time I go to work, then go to class, go grab a drink, come home, eat and study, its nearly midnight. I suppose I'll sleep when I'm dead.

You a doper? That's some weird thinking. I don't think about that, I just accept that the body needs rest.

It's OK that you don't think about these things. Somebody has to be the worker drones that just perform the tasks given to them with questioning. shite still has to get done.

That doesn't prove anything, Randy. Perhaps you dreamed that you couldn't imagine envisioning a shitty poster like myself.

I don't think you are dormant during sleep at all. I think of it as a reboot from a day filled with liberal BS that pisses me off to no end.

who are we? why are we here? why is the sky blue? why do birds have white poop?

I think we should all get free sleep number beds from Obama.

If you don't sleep, you'll die.

There's a condition where people literally cannot fall asleep, they die. No joke.

Actually, if you look at the chemistry of sleep and what happens in the brain, it's almost like being asleep is our natural state and our waking hours are the odd part.
