Junior high started at 8:50 for me back in the day.

They staggered the starts of elementary, high school, and junior high to allow buses to cycle through all three routes.

Jr high was 7:25 when I was in school?!

8am seems late. That is like primary school time.

Well I know a lot of school districts are starting to do later start times

Studies show that teenagers naturally need more sleep and making them be in a desk for 7am to take a test is just asking for lower scores.

I saw a mom and her elementary kid in Walmart at 8:30. She was buying jello for a school party.

All those public school frickers started school at 9:30 and were out by 3.

We had to be in our seats by 7:15 and were let out at 3:30.

I’m still fricking salty

They have staggered the start times of school to mitigate traffic issues as much as possible.

In our city it's

8:00 for the K-2 schools
7:45 for the 3-5 schools
8:40 for the middle school
8:30 for the HS

It's staggered to help traffic flow, school bus routes, and parent drop off for families with kids at different schools. It actually helps.

all work and school should start no earlier than 8:30, but noooo there is always some a-hole brown noser to ruin it.

Right, high school started earliest growing up because it gave more time for after school extracurriculars, or a part-time job.

In my parish, school start and end times are all over the place because they cut buses and now there’s two morning and two afternoon routes for each bus.
