Obligatory OT staple at this point to post-

IMO Texas trumps all other States as to State pride.

OP: Please honor your heretofore welshed-on self-ban.

A year would be nice for starters. See how it feels.

Based on the amount of trash and litter, I’d say Louisianians don’t have any pride at all in where they live.

Tons of pride as they toss garbage out of their cars all over the highways.

The entitled poor are a drain on this state. From dumping their ashtrays out of their car to throwing Popeyes bags out their windows. The same group that throws trash out their car windows is the same group wearing orange while cleaning the trash from our ditches.

From low test scores to high crime rates. Yet this state continues to put them on a pedestal and pour resources into their needs.

Takes a lot of pride to throw all that trash over every square inch of the state. And then after every flood to immediately replace the layer that washed away with a new fresh trash layer within hours of the flood receding. Pride on display for to see.

Imma go outside and drop some plastic trash now to celebrate La.!

It is though. I'll give it that, one of the weirdest states with unique architecture, food, history, traditions, etc.

It's so rich in culture that Mississippi benefited and got some from it.
agree, south east Texas, and south Mississippi

Most people in Louisiana know fully well where their state stands. Many embrace it by electing morons like JBE, Cantrell, and Broome.

Oh sure, pride as in throwing trash everywhere? Everywhere you go is riddled with trash. 3rd world country down there.

Shreveport isn't North LA.

Shreveport is East Texas.

I get it about the divisions and separations geographically, but south Louisiana is about as uniquely tied together as any culture in the world..

Louisiana overvalues the cultural strength of it's white trash.

Cajun is to Louisiana what hillbilly is to Arkansas and what redneck is to Mississippi and Alabama. Whitetrash by any other name is still white trash.

Yeah i've lived in Louisiana for years now and although i'm happy here, i don't get it either.

Our southern neighbors are legit trying to drag themselves into the 21st century. Louisiana however still wallows in "a chicken in every pot/poor me culture".

It took about a year and a half for the novelty of south Louisiana to wear off for me.

Pride is most seen in football, mainly LSU. The entire state got into it.

This isn't unique to Louisiana either. 100k people showed up to watch Alabama practice once.

One thing I have noticed on this site and in my time in louisiana is that there's a strange pride when it comes to alcoholism. I like drinking as much as the next degenerate, but boasting about it seems odd to me.

Most low income states have an intense pride in shite that doesn't matter (like football) in the grand scheme of quality of life. When there's a welcomed distraction, and your "state" is the best at something, the people of the state are going to band together and get behind it.

Texans are a different breed altogether. They think being from Texas is a personality trait.

If you meet somebody from New Orleans. They're going to tell you they're from New Orleans. If you meet somebody from Lafayette, they're going to tell you they're from Lafayette. If you meet somebody from Waco, or Amarillo, or Fort Worth, they're going to tell you they're from Texas.

South Louisiana certainly has a unique culture, and really you can find it sprinkled in along other parts of the I-10 corridor as well. Bayou La Batre ain't a whole lot different than Morgan City in the grand scheme of things.

Louisianans have a pride in how Louisiana is presented to the rest of the country. The drinking and partying and food. It's "what they're best at" hence there is pride taken in it. When you're ranked at the bottom on most lists, you're going to take pride in what you're good at, regardless of what that may be.
