Yes it's a very tiny example of anarchy, but if you lived in Charlotte, Baltimore, Ferguson, etc. when this shite was going on, and you watched neanderthals destroy your property and burn it to the ground in some cases, and had absolutely no recourse, you would surely feel it was anarchy.

Actually, living in DS, i was pretty proud of how the community pulled together and handled things in the recent flooding.
Inner cities and certain segments of the population that cant take care of themselves are the ones that will fall into anarchy at the drop of a hat.

We'll what we have learned so far from floods and hurricanes earthquakes etc... is that the Government is not prepared for any of it. We fund all these emergency agencies from state to federal and when the shite hits the fan they are usually running around like chickens with their heads cut off. No one takes responsibility and one agency blames the other resulting in nothing getting done. See katrina for a great example. If the big one ever comes,whatever that might be, we as citizens/individuals will be left to fend for ourselves it seems.

This is something that's been building for many years. Blacks now feel empowered and they want revenge. Things will only get worse. Like they mentioned the other day, they will resort to bloodshed if need be. IMO, they are going to end up awaking a sleeping giant.

Once upon a time, our nation held on the every word of a guy like Cronkite, even Dan Rather to an extent. Now, we have 24 hr News channels, which require tons of money to operate (and have been established with the idea of being relevant to society, able to influence it).
But the internet age has threatened that. I can get more info on LSU football from scanning this website, faster, than I can get from the paper, local news, or ESPN. That type of information distribution has reached "regular" news too. If we didn't have "crises", most people wouldn't even bother to turn to CNN etc. Afterall, if all they said was "everything is ok again today", why bother?

I know some of what we view is alarming but pales in comparison to the sixties and seventies, talk about a clusterfack. All stripes were present and accounted for and were dealing with legitimate systemic wrongs.
Today we have THUGS, plain old everyday THUGS in the middle of this. There is no excuse and really no one to blame as they have decided to opt out of civility....no excuse.
We have always had knuckleheads but today they are much more lethal as access to weapons is more prevalent. I would also venture to guess they don't come from Ozzie and Harriet home's and there lies much of the problem, along with 'it is my right...we have lost a sense of community

I did some work around L.A. about a year ago and got to talking to one of the PM's on the job and somehow the conversation turned to guns. So I showed him a few pics of my AR and I got the inevitable "why do you need something like that?" question. I told him that once you see what people turn into after a major natural disaster like Katrina, it really opens your eyes as to what people are capable of without basic necessities. I told him that L.A. seemed like a bad place to be in the aftermath of a major disaster if basic resources are scarce. He said "That's a pretty good point. Never really thought about that before".
ETA: to the OP's point about these protests, the media blows this up to make it seem like these protests are bigger than they are. General rule of thumb is take media hype and divide by 3.
