I'm trying to decide between two cars right now. One's a very nice 2006 Lexus with 70k miles, leather lined with a sunroof and a Mark Levinson sound system and so many other things.
The other is a 2013 Focus sedan that's gray on gray, cloth seats, with half the miles.
That one's a manual, though, and it's really sticking in my craw. I cannot get over how huge of a thing that is to me.
I thought the same thing until I drove it. It's not the quickest thing in the world, a V6 Accord would dust it from a light, but it's got plenty enough oomph to get places in a hurry and the ZF 8-speed auto is far and away the best auto trans I've ever driven. Thing is telepathic. It's really good at keeping that little motor on boost.

Hard to imagine it with something that small...

Good luck with that, they're a dying breed. You'll never get 'a deal' on another vehicle the rest of your life. Both my Tacoma and 5 series were an unreal PITA to get in manuals. I doubt they'll offer them much longer.

Frustrating, but you'd think with very driver oriented vehicles they would always offer that as an option, for a hefty premium I'm sure

I'd buy the manual no doubt. Or find another vehicle with a manual so you can make a good comparison.

Funny how it used to be the other way around.

In the increasing sensor world I'm just not sure it'll possible. The future was here though, the 5 series has amazing features for the manual. E brake on inclines, the car just holds itself for 3 seconds when you let off of the brake, ability to shift through cruise control (or not, you can engage the clutch to coast then release to allow it regain the cruise setting). Hard to explain, but advanced features for a stick.

In the 5-series, yes. As of 2016 the only manual 5er is the ultimate one.

More like "I wanted a small BMW that has Corvette performance for Corvette money, not midlevel 5-series money"
A C5 or C6 maybe.
A C7 Corvette has roughly a 100hp more and is lighter.

An Audi thread with the only pic being of a Cadillac

It has 4 seats in it so does this count?

Alright, never posted this one before.
What makes it tick...

What makes it tick...

Depends how you define best.
Not bad for a 8+ year old car. Pontiac GT GXP was way under rated.

Well here are a bunch from the new 2016, 605hp RS7 PLUS...
Notice the carbon fiber inlays are red or blue twill to match the red or blue triple stitching used throughout the cabin--even the rear seats. The flat bottom steering wheel is an option on the sport add on package.
There are also red or blue interior lights running under the door handles and on the side of the console down in the footwell--pretty sharp!
Also notice in the second picture, the headliner is suede and has triple red stitching. It is like that throughout the entire cabin. The attention to detail throughout the entire car is another reason for the big jump in price from RS to RS PLUS.
The regular RS7 is 565hp and base of $108,900...
The new PLUS RS7 is 605hp and base is $129,900...the plus has the blue carbon twill and blue stitching with black suede interior--the regular RS7 has the honeycomb pattern in the leather and either silver, black, or red triple stitching.
Enjoy...

Audi driver myself. It took me a bit to get used to a smaller car but I'm a fan now. I'll likely buy another after I drive the wheels off of this one.

Well damn. Tough choice between that or a M6 GC...I mean if I had the money to suffer such a decision.

I have the hardest time believing a Jag is engineered as well as German made BMW.
From Automobile Magazine:
quote:
Jaguar may be owned by Indians and built by Brits, but most of those who call the shots at the company hold German passports. Almost the entire top management comes courtesy of BMW in Munich, and this still shows in the way the new vehicles handle, ride, and hold the road. The 2016 Jaguar XF is a driver’s car.
Not sure what you mean by "not engineered as well", that's pretty vague. I also wouldn't say current Jaguars (XJ excluded) are plushy or blingy. XE and XF are quite sleek and understated if anything, IMO. I'm not trying to get you to buy one, just saying the XF is without a doubt a true competitor as far as sports sedans go. Go read any review on the XF and they all praise the driving dynamics of the car vs. its competitors.
