Time will tell. They´ve improved tremendously, jealous BMW zealots will say Audi is still a glorified VW and has serious expensive issues, etc.

Most cars now are built to break.

Even the standard bearers, BMW and MB.

My two cents.

I'm sure it's just dumb preconceptions. I haven't researched this in 5 years so I don't know. Hell, last time I did I bought CPOed car since I wanted a manual, non-turbo vehicle. Next time it'll obviously be a different bear. I'm on top of every preventative maintenance item I can be, but it'll be an expensive endeavor over the next 20k miles or so. If I can't keep it fresh then I'll be looking again.

Very nice

I'd love an A8 myself.

If you want a BMW that has Corvette performance, you better be looking at an i8 and nothing else.
And a Corvette costs midlevel 5-series money.

I have the hardest time believing a Jag is engineered as well as German made BMW. I get that it may be plushy and blingy and look like an exotic

"German engineering" is a fallback phrase that people like to use to make excuses for what's lacking elsewhere in the BMW, Audi, and most Mercedes below the S Class.
I just bought my Jaguar XJL Portfolio. It blows away the German cars in luxurious look and feel inside. And when it comes to driving - the last 3 cars I bought were a 911, a C7 Vette, and a '15 Mustang GT. The drive, power, and handling are a lot closer to those than it is to the old Lincoln Town Cars and Sedan DeVilles my dad used to buy. I just have the supercharged V6. But the supercharged V8 that puts out 550 hp will put up 0-60 and 1/4 mile times that match the 911 and the Mustang GT - and that's for a long wheelbase sedan that's damn near a limo.

Yep, a 3-cylinder hybrid with 85 less hp and skinny-arse tires is gonna be able to run with a Corvette. Mmhmm. I'm not the Murica Chevy frick yeah type but that's just wrong.

Wrong. A Corvette with zero options stickers for $55,400.

A 528i with zero options stickers for $50,500.

Add, like, 3 options and you're right there.

The majority of Vette's you see on the lot are going to list in the high 60s. That's very comparable to most of the 5-series I see.

Audi is making great products. I drive a 2012 A8L...great car. The RS7 is bad arse. The R8 is on the bucket list.

I won't argue that point, but being a car salesman, I always think to start at base MSRP and measure based on that.

ETA to prove your point, all 3 of the Vettes I've sold so far have been $68-75k.

Did you get the B&O sound system? I have it in mine and it doesn't suck.

A few pics of the XJL...

It's a very big car inside, but it handles like a much smaller car. Anyone who buys an A7/8 or a BMW 7 series without at least test driving the Jag is really missing out. I've wanted an Audi for a while now, and I just couldn't force myself to seriously think about one after seeing the Jag in person.

We get it. You love your Jag. But, they aren't for everyone and we all have our likes and dislikes.

I didn't even say that, I said engineered as well as a German made BMW, which isn't much of their US lineup.

I don't think in general it's a fallback phrase by itself, I have a German made watch and a German made gun and both are worth the premium for me. German styled and German engineered are intertwined phrases in a form follows function way that I appreciate and look for...but to each his own.

Yeah...I don't think you know what an I-8 is. Google it then laugh at yourself. :)

frick..... i wish i could get my wife off of the have to have an SUV b/c thats all she has ever drove.
Going to buy in the next month or so and i feel like i'm pissing away money on an SUV. I get the feeling that i can get more for my money in a car.... but, i've personally never owned one. I'll be honest i probably don't want to spend 5 series money, but there has to be something just under that available thats a much better purchase than a SUV.
