My wife gave me this stuffed animal for our anniversary and wanted me to keep in my office last year. She got it from a grocery store. I couldn't stop laughing and she was pissed at me. Married 10 years.

Yes, but I suck at gift giving as well, if I'm being perfectly honest with myself Although I do try.

I just tell her to give me sports-related crap or sex. The latter will never be turned down as a gift

Depends. How busy is your wife? Any kids? Does she work? Keep house/cook?

I used to take pride in putting a lot of thought into gifts, but with grad school on top of a regular job, I just haven't had the time to be creative these past two years. My wife has been busier than normal this past year with extra work and home responsibilities, so she hasn't been able to be as thoughtful, either (though moreso than I have been).

I realized my wife was awful at gift giving so we just stopped giving gifts. Nothing more than a card at any holiday/anniversary

I have been a pretty shitty gift buyer in past relationships. Definitely something I need to work on

You're a grown arse man. Why does it bother you that much that she doesn't buy you good gifts?

because for years you are told that you are stereotypically not emotional, caring, sensitive, attune, etc,etc,etc......then you get into a relationship, and find out that you are a beast at romantic and meaningful shite.(I don't care about it, but I am a master at making stupid shite happen....Like cooking, I don't even have to try and my stuff comes out better than dumb bitch following a recipe....and that pisses her off, like I did something wrong because I have a tongue and common fricking sense).

I'm not really even trying and I do better....are you seriously telling me that you are trying?

PS: Jahel says hi

No one can buy me gifts. If I really want something I just go and get it.

Are you one of those people who shows love, or believes love is shown by giving gifts? Not everyone has the same belief. You might think gift giving is a big deal; she doesn't.

My wife went through lots of trouble to have a shirt shipped to her friend's house, etc, only to give me the shirt and I already have the exact one in the closet

I've been dating a girl for a little over a month and so far she's bought me beer - GOOD beer like Stone's Enjoy By 7/4/14, Southern Tier Chokolat, etc. I have 0 complaints.

He asks what I want, I tell him, he gets it. I do the same for him.
Works for us.

I'm picky when it comes to gifts though. If I want something I just buy it for myself. So I usually just tell people to get me giftcards(including my husband).

And I buy my husband small gifts all the time(ex: a movie that came out that I know he wants, a book, stuff for his bike, etc). But for bigger stuff....I would rather get his input first before spending a bunch of money on something he may not really enjoy.

Mine is opposite. She puts in lots of effort and picks out something for $150 that I wouldn't pay ten cents for. At least you get something you want.

Edit: and she is a stay at home mom, so it's my money buying things I don't want

My wife is pretty bad at it. It has gotten to the point to where I tell her not to get me anything. I'll buy myself a gift. It is not that she doesn't put thought into it, she just flat out sucks at picking out things for me.
