I fell in that ditch once. It’s tough to get out when drunk.

Then you had one serial killer living just off campus (Gillis)- and yet another one preying on victims very close to the campus (Lee).

Best advice? Buy ammo and teach those you care about how to protect themselves in the gravest extreme.

The one at United Plaza Tower off of Essen?

Yeah.

Surveillance showed him entering the building and never exiting. People searched inside the building for 3-4 days before they found his body in a bush.

Yeah, I remember it well. My friends and I played the course several times while her body was out there. And I was part of the Baton Rouge running community. That one hit home. I know a couple of women runners who had very scary incidents shortly after; around the LSU lakes. Creepy AF.

A lot of trashy people came here after Katrina on buses. Then crime got a lot worse

This is two that we know of. They were operating in the 90's to 2000's. Melissa Montz was 1985, Eleanor Parker was 1981. I am sure there were others in this time range but don't have a list of missing/murdered.

It has always been rumored that there was a serial killer operating in BR in the '70s too. Once again, a list of missing/murdered would be helpful in establishing if it was a SK.

History has shown that once a SK is known to be operating, BR LEO's hide the existence from the public so as not to alarm them. I believe it was Detective Phares, later the chief or sheriff, that admitted this.

They do it because they don't want to be held accountable if they don't catch the killer.

All true, they believe there is still a SK operating in Baton Rouge area, but they only take a victim or two every few years with a random pattern. Apparently there is something common in the murders that make them think they are being committed by one person.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the whole route she ran searched in the days after her disappearance?
Then the body turns up right where the search was conducted?

Seems like the police claimed the body was relocated to that area after the area was previously searched.

hahaha...didn't search her daily route, didn't interview witnesses near the scene at the time of the murder

People would be shocked at the things that were not done in the Derrick Todd Lee investigation, unless a perpetrator leaves a photo ID at the crime scene it is doubtful BRPD would ever find them.

I think a more reasonable conclusion is that cops claimed they did shite they actually didn't do, or barely did at all

Do you have any more info on the victims? I am curious if this one is a societal climber like DTL or a societal cleanser, like SVG.

WTF? You act like BR is the only place where there are unsolved murders. IRL isn't like the movies, where they solve the case every time.

If someone is murdered, if it isn't a passion murder, where emotions are involved, someone does something stupid and ends up killing someone they are in a relationship with (whether it's love, business dealings, etc) or a planned murder in which the murderer messes up and does a sloppy job, then it's not going to be so easy to solve the murder. Especially if the murderer is someone who the murdered person doesn't really know.

Nobody in the public knows. Phares said they hid the existence of DTL and SVG. I think there was at least one more operational SK at the same time though. This does not count those in the 80's, or before.

There are a lot of BR murders. Most are single, committed by friends, family, or acquaintances. Some of the random, unsolved murders may be related and done by a SK. The victimology is generally not released to the general public to put it together though.
