While I always pull for them since they are supposed to be the good guys I still remember how horribly they treated the public during the DTL investigation. It cost the chief his job.
That being said, for the Melissa Montz murder, DNA was a new thing. I am sure they did not collect all the evidence that was available because they did not know what they know now. With today's forensics I would bet hers could be solved just by running the DNA collected through CODIS.

I was a freshman when Melissa was murdered.
Oddly enough that was around the same time "Meeting in the ladies room" was a hit song.

She was my geology professor when she was murdered. For a couple of weeks we didn’t have class and finally, they replaced her. We had no idea what was going to happen with that class.

lots of shite happened while I was at LSU but one thing that always seems to surface from time to time is the rape and murder of a friend, she had just received a letter from her fiancé, who was in Vietnam at the time, he was about to finish his tour and come home for their wedding, and a couple of days later she was notified of hos death

This doesn't necessarily mean that the body was there for the entire 51 days. Perhaps the murderer had finally finished with her and dumped her there the night before.

Always been surprised it never got more air time on cold cases. I do know there was a very odd bird that used to ride a bike down the path along nicholson every morning back then - always wondered if police talked to him. heck the odd dude on the bike did resemble gillis

His third victim was a woman he saw out jogging on Quail Run, stalked her, ran her down with his truck, raped her, and dumped the body. Pretty similar case.
Most of his victims were prostitutes he picked up in North BR.
