Fun Fair Park was the greatest amusement park in history. Until I visited Astroworld two years later. The Texas Cyclone is still the best wooden coaster experience ever. But to this day, I swear, the Wild Mouse is the scariest thing I have ever done in my life. At the first turn, when the front end of the car extended you out over open air, before making a 90 degree turn was diabolical in the mind of a kid. We went back on a lark while in college in the late 80's and the thing was just as scary. They shut it down a few months later.

Was it the same one from Fun Fair Park back in the 80s? Candy was her name.

Pretty crazy with all of the horrific chimp attack stories that have happened in the last 25 years or so to think that she never ripped some kid's face off after he rucked with her or threw something at her.

probably #3 on my list, behind the Raging Wolf Bobs at Geauga Lake in Ohio, and the Jackrabbit at Kennywood in Pittsburgh.

The Serial Thriller was one of my favorites as well

It was designed that way

quote:

A wild mouse is a type of roller coaster consisting of single or spinning cars traversing a tight-winding track with an emphasis on sharp, unbanked turns. The upper portion of the track usually features multiple 180-degree turns, known as flat turns, that produce high lateral G-forces even at modest speeds. Cars are often designed to be wider than the track to enhance the illusion of hanging over the edge. Lower portions of the track typically feature small hills and bunny hops.

Is she the old lady who lived in the trailer between the snack bar and the Galaxy when they were on Airline?
When I worked there, Liz and Paul Harrison ran the show. Grant has been running a lot of it the past few years since Mr. Paul's health has been down.

School night at Fun Fair park was the best experience a 5-8th grader could ever experience.

And

The Wild Mouse was a scary bitch for being such a small coaster that was for sure.....

That and the Wild Mouse (tall tales) made that park legendary.

Yes, it was hilarious. She was out there flipping off cars as they went by, and the BRPD had no clue what to do. Didn’t have a plan of action in case.

Yeah pretty ingenious design. The fit of the car on the rail felt “sloppy” with a lot of slack. It made you feel like it was rickety and cheap and about the fly of the track. Also I forget the geometry term, but the turns came sudden, with no “lead in” to get you prepared. Felt like your neck or spine was re-aligned. Great stuff.

The greatest thing about the Wild Mouse was when the park relocated to Blue Bayou, they chose not to bring it, and abandon in place. The weeds grew up around it as the park continued to have children’s parties there. That’s when the stories came about the cars flying off and people getting killed.

Just reading that made me nauseated enough to throw up in my mouth.

A midnight basketball league would have probably been a good start.

She would also have a drink with the manager after the park closed. I worked for him at a restaurant years later.

I remember that at Fun Fair Park.

Nothing like having your eighth bday party with a cigarette-smoking chimp.

Maybe she was having nicotine withdrawals and just looking for a cig at times.

Some of these stories remind me of that movie Nope from a few years ago.
