Chateau Dijon was considered upscale back then.

What was the supposed motive for the murder? Robbery?

Wilbert Rideau* was released
What's the difference

Before the trial began, Chenevert agreed to plead guilty to two second-degree murder charges with the agreement that he would never be a free person.

Why is this even being considered then?
Welcome to Beddin Ruuudge.

Well the murderer in question is required to leave not only BR but Louisiana all together.
Also, frick ossie brown. Terrible DA. Anytime you ask why BR doesn’t get big concerts at the PMAC or centroplex anymore it’s his fault.

Why?
Never heard of him. Looked him up. Pic with a grand jury looks like a mafia get together.

Goddamn POS Bel Edwards. That scumbag can’t GTFO of here fast enough.

According to an older article the two men were roommates. Chenevert, the son of a BRPD lieutenant, accused at least one of the victims of stealing drug money. I don’t see anything stating he’s changed his guilty plea.

Whites loved him because he was an extreme social conservative. Blacks loved him because as a defense attorney he won an acquittal for a black soldier from St Francisville in the My Lai Massacre. I think his son is a personal injury lawyer now.

Other than a few years none, Rideau deserved to die just as much or more than this POS .

Bc maybe he didn’t do these murders but knows who did or was an accomplice - maybe committed other murders or crimes or had some dirt on some police officers - so he was offered a deal
Wrong. He is guilty. This has never been in question.
He would've been convicted of 1st degree murder and had a date with Gruesome Gertie if he didn't agree to life without parole. He still deserves a date with Gruesome Gertie but there's no real justice in the world.

How can the parole board just randomly say his sentence was too long even though he agreed to it?

I'm down a rabbit hole now, reading about this murder in the Advocate when it happened.
Pretty fricked up. They found 600 capsules of Black Mollies(amphetamines) in the house where it happened. He admitted he stabbed them in a fit of rage over missing drug money.
Dude was probably delirious on the speed and forgot where he stashed the money. SMH

Just realized you bumped this.
Not that it justifies anything at all but I'm curious.
Did Michael Brown actually steal any of Chenevert's money or was he just cracked out on the speed and misplaced his own damned money?
I've seen this happen a few times in my life but fortunately it didn't end in tragedy. And every time the missing money or dope was simply stashed somewhere and the cracked out dealer forgot where he put it.
