Its so clear that I can't believe people are arguing the other way in this thread.
The risks of being caught with an open container in your vehicle, even if just ends up being a ticket, monumentally outweigh the reward of having a beer.

Why not a whole 6 pack?

I do sometimes.
A single road beer is way safer than texting and driving, speeding or left lane speed limit driving. And it saves time killin 2 birds with one stone like that.

When I was younger and didn't have a care in the world, I loved a road beer. It wasn't even illegal in Georgia where I lived at the time.
Now, I tend to think the risk doesn't outweigh the reward. Imagine getting in a car accident and it isn't even your fault, how is that going to look when the cop rolls up. If nothing else, it will make things more complicated.

Give me a break....IT IS ILLEGAL FOR A REASON. If you cant wait to drive home to get a drink because you had a bad day......you are an alcoholic puss.
Completely legal in the state of Mississippi.

Ah the ole Crotch Cooler.
My commute these days is 1.5 miles. Takes 2-4 minutes depending on traffic. The only downside is there is no time for a Crotch Cooler.

It got me to thinking is this a normal thing?
absolutely
me and my cousin rode together and in the 30 minute ride home we each drank 2 quarts of beer
nothing better after a hard day at work
now pussys that never get their hands dirty at work probably wil claim this isnt a normal thing because they never had to work hard

This was radio host Michael Berry's saying for years. I haven't listened to him in a while but he use to always advocate for 1 road beer after work for a man...or a butch lesbian woman
We have a fully stocked bar in our office. One of my former co-workers, who happens to be a lesbian, used to take one Miller Lite can on her way out every day.

I don't get one everyday but some days i'll stop and get a brown bag special. I normally don't crack it open until I am home as I am only 8 miles from the house. Sometimes I open them it just depends. lol

Open container laws should be repealed. The drinking age should be 18 and parents should teach their children how to drink responsibly. Talk about culture differences. We have grandchildren in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Birmingham. Kindergarten graduation. New Orleans Catholic School had beer, daiquiri machines and a cash bar. BR Catholic school had beer and a daiquiri machine.
Birmingham school had sweet tea and lemonade. I think I see more alcoholics in AL though.
The criminalization of 18 year olds started when the drinking age was changed to 21. It told a lot of kids that drugs and alcohol were the same problem as both were illegal. We have much more drug use than ever. I think making the drinking age 21 created a lot of this problem.
The problem we have like I see in this thread is that of an overboard reaction to having a beer on the way home from work. Some of you conflate that with being an alcoholic. That’s like saying anyone with a semi-automatic rifle is a serial killer. Reason has escaped many people’s grasp.
Repeal open container, make the drinking age 18, reverse the thinking that has created the nanny state and punish the real drunk driver.

That’s in the cafeteria at lunch everyday

I was in my mid twenties before I knew anything about an open container law - for some reason I had to pick up my husband from work so I brought him a beer, and he laughed and said I can’t drink that and he explained, and made fun of me for being from NOLA. My dad always drank a beer or stopped at a bar on his way home from work. He always had a beer when he’d take us to our afterschool activities, and on the weekends.
FTR I think it’s really wrong that a passenger can not have an alcoholic drink either

I have road vodka sodas every week coming home from work. Except I'm coming from another state and the pilot is flying the plane.
