You can report child neglect/abuse online. If you make enough reports and/or include that your prior reports have been ignored by workers and the children are in imminent danger, a supervisor will eventually get involved.

ETA: You may be able to convince other witnesses file reports as well.

Lady, you keep on like a parrot. Squawking. Every single individual with fricking sense knows not to give money to street people. What are you on? Is this the one thing you aren’t completely ignorant on? You get a 36 on your ACT (assumptions, countineness, and lack of Tact).

I will be willing to bet your trailer park rent that you have no idea what DCFS does or the people they help.

I love your enthusiasm to display your ignorance for the group with sweeping generalizations and no respect for the people who are giving up private sector money to work in public sector to help kids despite all the detractors like you. DCHS interns will do more today to impact healthy outcomes than you will ever hope to accomplish in your ham handed life.

What makes you the arbiter of these struggling kids best interests other then a pissy attitude? This is a statewide organization who’s struggling with funding, attention and structure and you think it should be a silver bullet to solve problems.

Bottom line is you are just an old dusty count who’s time has passed and this website gives you agency and a social outlet. I give no fricks. You are a pest. Appear to be kinda stupid, and I’m satiated that your only source of joy to extract in the world is to extract attention from other lonely mouth breathers who are so socially inept LSU is their only identity so they hang onto it until they wither and die in the LSU woman cave they drive their husband away to die in

So you already got BRPD and DCFS involved. So it seems like you already have their numbers, as well as contacts with whom you previously spoke, no?

I wish I had information to give the OP so those kids could be removed from this situation, unfortunately I do not.

But I felt that this needs to be pointed out in this thread. If anyone thinks for one second that BRPD or DCFS gives a shite about someone reporting something like this, you’re simply naive. They do not care, period. As sad as that is it’s simply the truth.

Thank you for this.

I called DCFS, the hotline would not help because they are unhoused. They gave me the 211 number to call to get in a shelter. Obviously this doesn’t work,

We are all paying taxes to protect children. To DCFS. There is a “family” that have 5 children who come and go without the parents from an abandoned CVS.

DCFS says not their problem, yall this is not ok, These are kids, babies.

Please call the number I’m not bullshitting literally nothing they can do.

Never heard of that. Mississippi CPS can be much more proactive. I'm sure you've already tried, but try to speak to a supervisor. Short of that, ask the worker his/her name so that you'll know who to refer to the police if something happens to the kids.

Too bad it's summer. You might have been able to contact a truancy officer as well.

ETA: Facebook groups may be your best, last options. There are plenty of Karens who would likely jump all over this and raise hell.

So living on the street with a druggie mother is ok. But they’d step in if there was a home bc then it wouldn’t be ok. Typical inept government. And DHS is useless. No kid should be unhoused and should be removed from parents who can’t house and care for them. Maybe someone there will hear your plea and help.

I've heard enough stories to think this might be the case. Of course, the ones that suffer are the kids, like in this case. It is too hot this time of year to not have kids housed somewhere safe. OP, I don't know if it would help, but have you tried calling the state legislator for that area? If anybody would have access to solutions, it would be them. Maybe the mayor's office?

I just hate to think that there are kids out there living like this, it's not their fault. Thanks for trying to help them, OP.

To the OP, this is where I’d go next to get these poor kids help.

Sid definitely has a spot in his heart for kids in a situation like this and I’m sure he could put at least a temporary solution together to help them until they get long term assistance.

Yeah, what he’s saying is some straight up run of the mill BS. Honestly, there’s pretty much nothing you can do besides what you’ve already done. Keep calling the police and DCFS. If you do the right thing and take the kids out of that situation you’re going to become a felon. They’ll hit you with kidnapping and a slew of other charges. Just keep fighting the good fight and hope you reach someone with a sense of compassion and courage. A foster home is not a great place for kids. It sure beats the hell of of living on the streets with no supervision or guidance.

DCFS should come out and investigate and remove the children if they are not properly cared for.

This is the problem with rendering aid in the form of food and clothing. DCFS sees the kids eating and wearing a new shirt or pants that is what they report.

Unfortunately it is often choosing one or the other: feed/clothe them OR get the authority involved. both cancel each other out.

Awful to see. Stuck between doing something and being dependent on the state which has to investigate. Can’t just have DCFS able to snatch kids off the streets because a strange person reports something, must be at least a pretense of investigation. Otherwise everyone is susceptible to having a child custody issue.

Saw them Saturday walking east down Govt near the interstate. Later that day saw them in the CVS parking lot , one child was getting into a maroon colored car so appears they may have transportation. Yesterday they were sitting near the Jack in the Box at Foster Drive.

I am a Detective with the Baton Rouge Police Department.

I am sending some resources to the area now to investigate the welfare, living condition's, and safety of these children and to assist the mother with resources.

I have also forwarded this thread to Mayor President Sid Edwards Community Outreach Director.

I will update you when we know more soon.

Thanks for the lead.
