You might think Itchy and Scratchy was an original parody of Tom and Jerry. But National Lampoon predated them by a good decade or more with Kit and Kaboodle

I assumed everyone rooted for Tom

The old T&J was the best because Jerry got fricked up almost as much as Tom.

When they made it all about Tom losing every single time I lost interest.

True story my cat caught a mouse in the bird cage2 nights ago.. The noise made me jump out of bed and I ran when the hall to see wtf was going on. I had to calm the bird and tuck him back in and the cat devoured the mouse while watching me from across the room

Same cat who won't eat a piece of salami out of my hand.

I got to pick up the last piece of entrails and Lysol wipe the blood off the floor.

Fun things to do at 1am.

Jerry, Tweety, Roadrunner were the dull but cute characters favored by very little children.

Tom, Sylvester, & Wile E Coyote were the neurotic, often desperate characters who had comic personalities. They were popular with older children and adults.

The cute characters were pushed b/c little kids were considered important to establish & maintain a series.

Also, little kids were the major market for merchandising, before the Peanuts explosion of the '60s made Snoopy stuff such a big seller with high school & college students, revolutionizing the business.

Never felt sorry for Tom overall. Jerry baits him and he takes the bait......every time . Every. Single. Time.

I can’t believe that anybody, especially an adult, would give any thought to who they side with in Tom and Jerry. It’s a fictional cartoon.

And Jerry has to win in every episode, because if Tom ate Jerry then there couldn’t be any more episodes in the show. Unless they pulled off a Dallas and they had Tom wake up from a nap in the next episode and they said Tom just dreamed that he ate Jerry.

They were bros in the end. Pretty f'in sad but they had an episode where I think they lost their chics? Ended up killing themselves on a bridge train. Them dark episodes of kid shows hit different as an adult lol

Poor little roadrunner never bothered anyone
Running down the road’s just his idea of having fun
