Nowadays, you have to get on the internet to put in a code to be told that you lost.

There was something fun about opening up the top and looking to see if you won something.

The internet/tech ruins everything.

Also, did anyone ever actually win anything cool? All Scruffy ever won was a free drink.

I remember Pepsi had a contest that if you have a name of an old west outlaw at the bottom of the can you would win a certain prize. I won five dollars off of that, I was 10 and 1984 so that was a big money.

I remember I won a free drink and some skins for battlefield 3.

I don’t remember how you actually redeemed the free coke. Did you have to go to a certain store?

Won a bunch of free Cokes but that's about it. I never bothered with it after they switched to the internet model.

I member when coke literally would put cash in the cans that shot up at you when you opened it. 2nd or 3rd grade I think and I was allowed to get a coke from the teacher’s lounge which was a big deal so I was stoked.. and then a 5 dollar bill popped out of the can and the rest was ‘weighted’ water . Never been so disappointed to win 5 bucks
Anyone else remember that contest

Porn used to be forbidden fruit. Now it's a commodity. In the golden age a bunch of squiggly lines on a screen that may be hiding a nipple was fapworthy material. Now you could watch them do it flying through the air on a trapeze and it's meh.

Remember Kool Aid points? When I was a kid I dreamed of being able to get enough points to get all the video games and shite. But I could never convince my mom to buy huge tubs of Kool Aid for a video game

I collected them very seriously over a decade or so. Friends always gave them to me so i decided to use them I also saved up points and was able to get high teir stuff. It wasnt just coke branded merchandise. We got clothing, dozens of amazon gift cards, kitchen items, a really nice set of 5 nesting ceramic bowls, lots of photo items from snapfish, magazine subscriptions, etc.
It enabled me to do a lot of nice things for people.

I got codes for years of free membership in an online game forum that a handicapped/ fixed income friend was a huge fan of. She also lived alone so it kept her quite happy.

Free pizzas and movie tickets to send to friends since i didnt live in city

Free magazines , the good ones, to a friend in prison.

Free photobooks for friends who friends when they lost a loved one.

Pretty amazing how much stuff i was able to get and give away to people who really appreciated and needed those things.
