Does anyone else have friends/relatives that won’t leave for Laura?

Sorry if this sounds like a whining post but I am concerned. I have a cousin who lives in Sulphur with his wife and 2 small kids and they are refusing to leave, despite the fact that multiple family members including me have called and urged him to come stay at one of our places where it’s safe. He’s a real religious Joel Osteen type however and he said God has their back and they will be fine. I said that’s great and all but we have your back too, so leave. He said no, and that he has to defend his home. I think this is ludicrous. I told him to at least write your name, birthday and social on him and his family’s arms. Does anyone with experience with this kind of thing have anything I can say to convince them to leave? They don’t have a lot of time left before it hits.

It's fricked up that he won't send his wife and kids off. He wants to stay and put his life on the line, fine, but he shouldn't put his family in that situation.

You've done what you can ... and that's all you can do short of going and hauling them physically into a car.

Can you guilt them into leaving by talking about the possibility of what htey're doing could kill their children??

My brother is there but he's a pharmacist in a hospital and his 7 days on started last night. So he's there for the foreseeable future.

For Rita, they had them write SS# on their arms.

That’s pretty stupid. It’s like the guy who’s drowning and asks god for help, then a boat comes by and he says to the boat, I’m waiting on god to save me. Then when the guy dies and gets to heaven and asks god why didn’t he save him from drowning and god says, I sent a boat for you dummy.

Is there a chance that they haven't heard about the storm?

This always makes me of the ole joke..

There is a flood. Man is standing on his roof, a boat comes and ask if he needs help. He says god will save him. Two more boats come, and its same thing "god will save me.

The water rises and he drowns. He gets to heaven and ask god "I thought you would save me?" and god says "I tried to, but you wouldn't get on the boats".

Tell him one way God has his back is giving him the ability to make a smart decision for his family and get the hell out of Dodge.

My wifes cousin is staying in Lake Charles. Lives near the Lake Charles CC. Tried to talk him out of it but no luck.

I hate people with this mentality, it’s hopeful ignorance. Ever think that maybe God put a car in your life so you can GTFO of town when a hurricane comes?

Have them look at this, see how much water they can expect in their house. Looks like all of Sulphur will have 3+ ft of water. Sounds super fun, esp with 2 young children.

Inundation

My wife’s 90+ yo grandmother is riding this one out at home like she has every other one including Rita. She said if it gets too bad she’ll go to the 2nd floor. She’s in Erath.
