This is just stupid. The question was whether people loved BR, not whether they would live elsewhere.

I live in a great city and would live on the beach given the money and opportunity. Doesn't make my current location a bad one.

I loved my time in Baton Rouge.

If I moved back to Louisiana, it would be to either Baton Rouge or Lafayette.

Nope but those arent my kind of people.

Colorado

Yup, enjoyed it. Could not live there as I cannot deal with harsh winters. This knocks out any state with the same climate.

Going soon, will report back.

Caribbean

Multiple times to multiple islands. Wife currently lives down there and she fricking hates it. So take that one off the list.

Ive been to plenty of different cities to form my opinion. Every place has drawbacks, some bigger than others. I love BR even with its flaws and its home for me. Even with this I may be forced to move in a few years, but it will always be home.

I dont care if you understand that or not. Its ok for people to have different opinions.

BR weathers bad economic times better than most states (jobs).

I've traveled to all of these and MOST places would fail to live up to Caribbean & Colorado (especially scenery). Dumb comparing BR to an Island and another state.

I'd prefer living in mountains, yes.

I moved her from a small Louisiana town to go to LSU, have been here ever since, going on 20 years now.

I love the people! There are parts of white and black cultures that I don't like, but the parts that I love way overshadow that. I lived in Minnesota for only 6 months, and my heart ached for the atmosphere and people of South Louisiana. The culture of South Louisiana and Baton Rouge, LA is unparalleled.

I wish there was less crime, but I guess all cities have crime. And the driving is scary.

I do.

I have the means and the opportunity to live anywhere in the world and I choose to live in Baton Rouge.

You make a fair point, but the grass isn't always greener.

I've lived in Chicago most of my life. I currently live on the lakefront. And there is still a lot of shittiness to hate about this city.

Your happiness in a place is what you make of it and I wouldn't begrudge anyone for loving BR. I miss parts about it, too.

I don't see how anyone could, unless they haven't experienced much else or are suffering from cognitive dissonance. Baton Rouge is an objectively bad place to live

It has it's faults. It could be much better with better leadership.

Hated it so I left.. if you don't like it, quit your bitching and go somewhere else.. nobody likes the person constantly moaning and groaning about BR but not leaving

Yall all know my thoughts on BR.

However....even I think it is INCREDIBLY POOR TASTE to have a "let's all talk about why BR sucks" thread today of all days. Especially on a message board where there are posters that personally knew one or more of the victims of yesterday's horrific shooting.

What I've noticed after living in the area for 29 years:

EBR, AP, and LP are pretty much all the same when it comes to attitude. No body seems happy. People are rude. You catch eyes with people in the store and try to nod to them or give a smile and they turn their head immediately. Very very rude people in this part of the country.

I worked in Houston for a year and I swear to you I thought all the women I came into contact with were flirting with me. Its sad when kindness is so scarce that it is mistaken for flirting. I was the odd one out. I was the a-hole from Baton Rouge. It took me some time to realize that if you can't pick out the a-hole in the room then it's probably you. Now that I'm back here it seems even more amplified and I can't believe I normalized it for so long.

Moral of story is: people are mean in Baton Rouge and its surrounding parishes. It's like NYC down here, just slower. Mean and slow. Oh well...

I love LSU and definitely hate Baton Rouge. That city is so shitty.
