That list is so sad it makes me laugh that you're using it as proof.

I don't love BR. I don't hate it, either. Never took a shot at it. Calm yourself down.

Born and raised....grew up in Old Goodwood. I left Baton Rouge in 2000. I missed only a few LSU games from the early 1970's till I left. I leave and they win a MNC. However, I did miss Katrina. I did miss the population explosion in Baton Rouge.
I go to Baton Rouge and NOLA quite often. Baton Rouge has changed so much and not for the better IMHO. I actually prefer NOLA over Baton Rouge now. I love Baton Rouge but would never move back there. I do want to leave Texas, however we'll be on the Northshore when that happens next year. I'll visit BR and leave just as I will NOLA.

I have a degree from LSU, spent 5 years there, and would prefer be homeless in south Florida than be a Baton Rouge resident.

I love the nostalgia I have about growing up there, all 25 years of my life until I moved away, all my friends and family and memories I made there. But don't think I can say at this point that I love the city, or what the city has become.

You left in 2000, some of the darkest days the in the city. I live in Old Goodwood now. My grandma lived in Broadmoor when I was growing up. Outside of Cortana and Tinseltown, Baton Rouge is light years ahead of where it used to be. Even the crime has gone down since you left. The schools are better, the nightlife is better , mid city is gentrified, ect. Baton Rouge has changed for the better.
NOLA was on the right track up until about 3 years ago. Only Mitch Landrieu and NOPD and the New Orleans City Council cronies could have derailed that train, and they have left it burning in their wake. The gentrification is still happening, but I think the crime is getting close to busting the real-estate bubble

I've never been a resident of Florida and doubltfully ever will, but as a state it gets so much hate on this board I felt it was appropriate to use for my analogy.
I go back go Baton Rouge regularly, even after leaving many years ago, and it really never changes. It is a terrible place.
Getting a deli is the best thing to happen to your city in the last 5 years. Congrats.

I do.
I always have. And after traveling all over the US, and a fair portion of asia, I can tell you Louisiana is a fine place to live.
But also would nevet live in a town/subdivsion.

Most people publicly say they love Baton Rouge because they don't have any other option, due to various reasons.
Have these people traveled to California, Colorado, Chicago, the Caribbean, etc.?
Given the money and opportunity they would love BR from a distance, while living on the beach or in the mountains somewhere.

Went back for a wedding last month. The growth of LSU and redevelopment on the campus outskirts surprised me, as did the gridlock. One unfortunate results of the mass construction of apartments for Tops students is the old housing decay and the infiltration of undesirables in places that were once safe.

I've turned down jobs in other areas around the country.

Yes. All of those listed. 37 states.

I mean who the hell wouldn't? That doesn't change my love for BR...
I've got friends that live in cities that are always in the "best places to live" rankings and they still would drop everything and move to the BVI's for the right situation.
