Yep, fireball and the brain. I also had a butterfly

I had a cold fusion and cold fusion butterfly.

70s for me as well. The old Duncan butterfly. I remember Buckskin Bill used to have a guy come on and do tricks.

Got my 6YO a yo-yo for Christmas. It got knotted up the first time he tried it.
And that was why I said no with a quickness.

How could I forget those things. That was a fad that lasted all of a week before it was shut down at school and all the moms were afraid of us burning our eyes out

Couldn’t watch 10 Things I Hate About You in the theater without someone pointing the laser at Julia Stiles’ crotch for an hour and a half.

Totally forgot about the hackey sack phase. Never got into Pokémon or magic cards. I think there were Star Wars cards back then too.

The coolest kids were the ones who had the gold or silver “axle” ones
Posted on 5/24/24 at 12:42 am to DiamondDog
Ohh yea, had quite a few including what the coolest one at the time was I think it was called an "xbrain" but may have been the brain as mentioned ITT
My grandad it turned out had what was at the time considered by me and my elementary friends as the holy grail of yo-yos, it was basically unattainable to any of us, I can't remember the name but it was this heavy metal type as opposed to the ones we all had which were made out of basically plastic.
Anyways my grandad was nice enough to give it to me which basically made me to the coolest kid in school or at least I thought so. Time passed, yo-yo fad sort of died down, and of course my dumbass lost the damn thing and never could find it again. As I got a little older realized what a blunder that was as in my head that yoyo must've been really expensive. Of course in reality I'm sure it wasn't really that expensive at least I'd hope not bc why would my grandad trust me with it?
Anyways.....he never asked me about it and that's my yo-yo story
ETA: after giving it some thought the yo-yo MIGHT have been called the silver bullet

I grew up buying the basic yo-yo or having them given to me as a birthday or Christmas present in the mid 60's.
Duncan yo-yo's were a big hit back then and they started having these comps where people showed off their skill with the toy.
Plastic yo-yo's and those old wooden tops with the steel point embedded in them were hit toys for kids to play with. Toss in a pair of those old steel sidewalk skates and kids would be entertained for hours at a time.

Mid-60s was also a big yoyo phase.
