Doctor’s office weigh in (lbs vs kgs)

For as long as I can remember, the scale at GP’s office measured my weight in lbs. The last few years, it is measured in kgs.
I have heard this is because medication prescriptions are based upon body weight in kgs, and this reduces risk of wrong dosage due to conversion (lbs to kgs) error.
Is this correct?
If so, why did it take so long? Did something change in the last few years?

i dont know if that's the reason, but yes, dosage for medications is usually in mg/kg in my field of medicine.

Mine is still measured in lbs. But I wouldn't think the dosage thing would have anything to do with it.

If you can't do kg x 2.2 in your head, I feel sorry for you.

Stop being fat and disgusting and you won't have to worry about medications or going to a doctor. Doctors are for pregnant women and the elderly.

Last month they weighed me @ Ochsner in kg. There was a sign up next to the scale saying "remember to weigh in kg for patient self confidence"
To most people I guess kg might as well be in ancient Greek.

Most medicines are in mgs/kgs or milligrams per kilogram so yeah it’s probably a more accurate way of doing it.

You probably got too big for pounds.

2.2 lbs is a kg. Very simple math and isn't hard to figure out.

i went one time for a work physical and both their scale and their height measuring stick were way off.
had me almost 2” taller and 20# heavier than i’ve ever been in my life.
told the lady “that’s definitely not right”

You’d be surprised how math dumb most people are

It's to make fat people feel better. The girls like seeing 100 on the scale instead of 220.462.

Anyone who can't do math that is that simple doesn't belong anywhere near medicine. What is even worse is even if someone sucks at math there is a calculator on the phone. What are they teaching these kids in school?
