Wife’s coworker sent out plea for donated supplies here in BR. Hasn’t even hit and they are already running thin. Oh, and beds are now full and nurses have multiple patients. Wife goes in tomorrow, guess I’ll head to the houseboat.

I think it’s crazy that one of the first priorities hasn’t been to secure testing for all healthcare workers on the front lines... especially when infected workers can be asymptomatic and spreading the virus among coworkers and patients.
I know test kits have been scarce, but at my facility they allow employees to bypass the checkpoints they have setup to screen for symptoms! Show your badge and walk on through!

My hospital has told us we can continue to work even if we have a fever, just as long as we wear a mask. I wear a mask all day, and my co workers laugh at me, I don’t get it, they are too cool I guess. They judge people who don’t stay home and believe in self distancing but won’t get on board. Maybe they think it’s inevitable, but the point is to draw it out as long as possible.

Talked to a nurse friend of mine yesterday and said the higher ups are pretty much ignoring the fact that nurses have been exposed and could possibly be passing it on to patients.

I was working at a restaurant in college and a Doctor tried to steal a drink. I asked him to pay for it and he threw a hissy fit. He didn't want his meal any more so refunded and he left. I always wondered what he'd have done if I walked into his place of work and just took things.

We are doing the same in the ICU I work in, also the masks are now locked in our manager's office because people were taking them.

Agreed ..... many of us have upper respiratory/seasonal allergy symptoms but can’t stay at home just for that lest there would not be enough staff and we would no longer have jobs. Everyone would be better off if health care providers could be tested so we wouldn’t unknowingly expose others

Are people using N 95 masks for patients not on a vent or nebulizers/aresoled oxygen? Shouldn’t you just use a surgical mask for droplet precautions in these cases where they are on room air or Oxygen via nc?
