The real fraud is the fact that the government discriminates against married couples.

And I bet you want the government to provide financial support for everyone from cradle to grave.

I don’t believe we should punish people for getting divorced through government policies, but we certainly don’t need to be subsidizing and encouraging it along with single parenthood

Link?

Medical bankruptcy in America is absolutely an overinflated issue

It is based off of one study done a long time ago in which Elizabeth warren was one of the writers.

It looked at people who declared bankruptcy, examined what percentage of those people had medical bills, and then made the enormous assumption that those bills CAUSED the bankruptcy

Bloomberg article: the myth of the medical bankruptcy

I also think the church should get out of marriage altogether.

Agreed, but I do not believe that the government should be rewarding people that get divorced with health insurance paid by the tax payer.

I do not believe the government should be providing health insurance to anybody, honestly.

The government needs to get out of essentially all aspects of our lives.

she has a special needs child, she probably can't make enough to cover what it would cost in child care when she is at work

I didn’t read the article but I have a child with severe disabilities and it would absolutely bankrupt many people. It’s amazingly expensive, and exhausting, to give her the care she needs.

truly disabled kids should qualify for help but the problem so many POS parents game the system to have their kids collect disability.

Special needs kids also take more time and evergy from the parent. If you don’t have deep experience with a special needs child, you won’t understand. Be thankful for it.

It is absolutely fraud to claim you have zero household income when you actually have substantial household income.

It's also a very common fraud. Falsely claiming parental abandonment allows you access to other assistance programs as well. I've seen it a number of times. Once I even worked with a guy who had his wife claim abandonment to get WIC. Both husband and wife were college grads with good jobs, by the way.

I know an attorney that did this. It was all on paper. His daughter eventually succumbed to her illness and I’m not sure if they ever “remarried “ on paper after, but most people never knew they were “divorced “.

I’m not judging. I like the man and get along fine with him.

I will say that he isn’t now, nor has he ever, been hurting for money.

Have you been divorced? There’s plenty of punishment with it.
