Worked with a Puerto Rican chick who claimed she was once engaged to an Olympic medalist and used to be a backup dancer for Ricky Martin. She wasn't particularly attractive either.

Once worked with guy that over the top with all his stories,he had been in Army 16 years had gotten battlefield commission and was captain when he got out because he was disillusioned with Vietnam Nam.Met his ex-wife,said he get involuntary separation because he only made buck sergeant .Claimed he had worked for CIA 5 years doing assassination missions, his hands were registered as deadly weapons. Also claimed to have been riverboat captain, locomotive engineer, millionaire oilman, professional bass fisherman and hunting guide Alaska, killed grizzly bear with a knife.I calculated he was 120 years old and started all this when he was 2 years old.

Worked with a guy that claimed he had been a professional pool shooter, a pro race car driver, and an ace mechanic. He really was good at pool, but I didn't believe any of it until I went to his house one day to help build a Christmas float. He had albums full of old pics from pool tournaments and races. Has enough tools to start up a NASCAR pit team too.
Another guy told stories about working as a private detective that I doubted. The same guy got the company we worked for in trouble for taping employees phone conversations without their knowing it. I knew they had some kind of taping system, because they'd used it for sales training when I first started there, but lots of newer people were never told about it. The PI guy took months worth of tapes from the office and gave them to the Dallas County DA's office. He'd take them on his lunch break, the DA's office copied them and he slipped them back to the office. They had tapes of employees talking with wives, girlfriends, and each other. One of the managers had recorded another manager's conversations, and the GM's conversations.
They plea bargained, and ended up having to pay some fines that were nowhere near what they paid their attorneys. The PI guy missed a couple of days work, and was fired. Some people's phones could never be used for anything except company business afterwards, and that was clearly stated in the next years employee handbook.

I work in healthcare. The only common denominator I have found was that any administrator that worked in the Triad Hospital System was one. I think it must have been a pre-requisite to work with Triad.

Knew a guy like that. He was ex army and had made a ton of money on the oil business. That much was verifiable. He also had these wild stories about being close friends with George W. Bush and a bunch of Saudi Princes, and being in the CIA, which nobody believed. Then 9/11 hits and he's seen walking around town in the uniform of a brigadier general. Everybody thought "ok, he's really gone too far this time."
Until he boarded a government plane and jetted off to the middle east. You just never know.

Not work with but went to high school with. We called him Captain bullshite.
In hindsight I'm not even sure why we were friendly with him but he was just one of the guys. The guy who'd tell a lie over any and everything.

I work with some guys that will occasionally tell stories about crazy things that happened on the job years ago. Some of them say they were the ones that did whatever deed was done.
I know it is a lie because I was there, and in some cases, I was the one who did whatever act they are claiming they did. At a minimum, I knew who did it.

Do you call them out on their bullshite? You should so they'll STFU.

If you think their lies stop at stories, you are wrong. They are probably overinflating their importance at the company and getting credit for other's work.

Occasionally. It totally depends on their work ethic now, and how close they got the details. One guy that is a slacker, about 30 years old, told stories about starting up a new facility. He talked about how hard it was and how much money he made.
I told him that I was the lead on that, and it was 19 years ago, making him 11.
I actually know the guy that picked up a local girl and left the top to the toothpaste about 5-6 inches up her arse. When these young guys tell that story and act like it was them, I always call them on it.

Yes! Worked with a guy at a part time job. He still flies and owns planes everywhere. He flew upside down under the Cross Lake bridge here in Shreveport a few years ago even though he was 80 at the time.
He saved Andy Griffith from drowning in a lake. He gave Coach Steve Spurrier a ride home after a Florida game. Steve was walking home from the stadium in the rain.
He dated Dusty Springfield.
He helped President Carter with the hostage crisis with Iran by personally going to Iran.
He tutored Bobby Kennedy when Kennedy was 15. We did the math. He would have been 5 years old. Wouldn’t that have been a big story? “Robert Kennedy tutored by a five year old!”
These are just the tip of the iceberg.
I actually loved his insane stories and constantly egged them on for my own private amusement.
