Do you wait to lower high beams until oncoming vehicles come into view to get "credit"?

I do.
I want drivers to know that I follow the rules of the road.
I want drivers to know that, as a human, I'm doing fellow humans a solid.
I want drives to acknowledge that.

This

I drive a Ford Superduty so it looks like I have my high beams on even though they are on low because of the headlights design.

No, it’s probably because you have a lift kit on it and didn’t get the headlights properly adjusted.

Is it leveled? If so, you didn't adjust the headlights

No.
Then again I’m not seeking validation like a teenage girl.

Mine is auto but I don’t trust it.
I feel like it waits too long sometimes.

No lift its just a 4x4 F350 with factory rims. It doesn't happen as much now maybe people are used to seeing them but in 2017 when I got it I was flashed all of the time. I think because of the first year out with this headlight design. Pictures not my truck but this is what they look like on LOW beam.

If they aren’t in my view how would I know to turn mine off?

No, all of my cars do it automatically.
Posted on 10/25/23 at 6:46 pm to shutterspeed
I turn the setting off so they never go on automatically so I don't blind other drivers

Sometimes in the hill country it looks like Texas stadium is just behind the next rise. When those lights dim before they crest the rise, mine do to.

I once got pulled over for dimming my lights. Turns out the oncoming car was a cop who assumed I was warning other drivers of his presence. He was kind of a dick about the whole thing and I told him next time I’d just leave my brights on.

If you’re not careful you’ll get shot in a gang initiation.
