Have you ever asked yourself, "How can they sell this product for so much cheaper?"
It's called not having a national brand marketing division.

Like everyone else, depends on what it is. I always buy brand name soap and detergent though.

Kroger brand has the best knock off sodas I've found.

It's called cutting corners to kill off all of the poor and cheap arses wasting the man's breathing air.

Winn Dixie and Piggly Wiggly have good generic or house brand stuff.
Can save a good bit of cash each month buying generics.
Some stuff has to be named brand though.

For the most part, generic items are made by major nation brands. The stores just buy it cheaper in bulk and the company slaps a store brand label on it.

I've done consulting for large poultry farms and have been at their processing facilities. At the time, I was surprised to see their brand name chicken packaged right next to the packages that said Great Value.
Same chicken. Two different prices.

Besides paper towels/toilet paper, condiments, and cokes, I usually buy generic. Especially any type of pharmaceuticals like ibuprofen, Benadryl, or acetaminophen.

Publix brand, yes. But you guys are poor and still shop at Food City.

You shop at Walmart and pay with a debit card. You're either dumb or poor or both. Sorry

I'm in the food industry and for the most part it's pretty much the same. Some of these name brands don't even make their own stuff. They contract it out to a manufacturer that pumps out the same thing in multiple private labels.
Speaking of Kroger, they actually do a lot of private label manufacturing for other people....through their manufacturing division...Inter-American Products.
You can save a lot of money going generic on essentials like, flour, butter, dairy products, deli cheese, sugar, milk, canned goods, etc. it's all pretty much the same.

Depends on what it is really.
Yep. My favorite Ramen noodles are the hot and spicy from Winn-Dixie even though I never go to Winn-Dixie. There are a few off brands or house brands that I like better. The house brand Public ice cream is really good and their pizza rolls are good. Can't think of any others off the top of my head that I like though.

Is this a fact? Then why doesn't it look or taste like the brand name?

Glad to hear someone in the food industry admit that it's not all the same. "Pretty much" is definitely not the same and there's a big difference in the taste if you drink the cheap Diet Zero Colas for a few days & then drink a real Coke Zero.
How about coffee? Has anyone compared these? The K-Cups I usually get are $11.99 and I've seen some generic dozen packs for as low as $5.99.

I always get the HEB bread, milk and eggs. And other small shite like aluminum foil and stuff

Somebody answer my question about Generic coffee -vs- Brand name coffee, please. There is a HUGE price difference in these.
